That's pretty cool! I can't believe the amount of people I've heard about that click on these links.

I recently heard of a guy that fell for that lottery email. He paid the R5000 to release the money. He never saw a cent...

lol I received an SMS this morning stating that I won the UK lottery... R960 000! Would be nice though...... :)

I win the lottery every day (sometimes twice) and you'd be surprised at how many family fortunes I am heir to as well.

Some people should just off the internet period. However, for every 1000 people that ignore these emails, 1 falls for it; which is why they just keep coming.

It's the sad truth... and those scammers make a nice amount of cash out of this. I think this is good enough reason to go get my second cup of coffee! :D

I have now inherited from countless people, won the UK online lottery, the world cup lottery gotten requests from soliciters and bank managers. Wouldn't it be cool if you could just push a button on your return email and make their pc's explode in their faces or something?

I wouldn't really mind if people fell for a really well-constructed scam. Hell, I'd even congratulate the scammers. However, these people don't even put effort into this. Half the email doesn't even make sense. Just think how rich they could be if they just actually tried a little harder.

I received an sms on my phone last month saying that your cell numb has been randomly chosen and have won $200000 in a nokia promotion. Stupid people, I wasn't gonna fall for that and I googled it straight away to find that thousands of people have been receiving these sms'

My mother almost got scammed into some cruise deal advertised in the newspaper, luckily i managed to intervene before it was too late, but she thought it was a bit dodgy which is why she asked me to investigate it. But ye, people fall for it easily which makes scamming as common as it is.

Get some from YouTube and Facebook sometimes. Interesting they don't ask for any details or include links so looks like useless spamming. These people don't send them from the address it says. If you get it through a gmail account report it as a scam.

So what's the funniest scam email you guys have ever received? I think mine is the african doctor who can help me with my financial problems and increase the size of my penis at the same time... If only I didn't delete it!

It's amazing that these people don't even bother to make sure their english and spelling is correct and people still think these mails are legit. The one in the opening post of this thread is a prime example.

^ HAHA Prometheus.

Its interesting that scammers are now using non-financial / competition styled mails too. Normally, they simply say "Your account has been blocked" or "You have won" and get people to click their links or reply to those.

Wonder how many of these there are and if Telkom are even aware of it.
