Do you guys enjoy his work? How does he afford to make movies?

It's kinda hit and miss with me but I guess he has his own style.

Can't stand him. I guess I found his stuff kinda funny back when I was like 10, but now I'd rather slit my eyeballs with a razor than sit through the biggest embarrassment of the South African movie industry (imo - no offence to people that enjoy his stuff, even though I'll never understand why :)).

yup, his old stuff was kinda ok, but haven't been able watch the last couple of movies, ppl around me rave about it...glad to know I am not the only one. Jamie Uys waaaaaaaaaaay back was funny though. My dad had those "The gods must be crazy" and "Funny People" on VHS.

Yeah, not a fan of the whole slapstick genre, if I'm being honest. OH LOOK, HE FELL IN A PILE OF ELEPHANT POO WHILE THE MUSIC WENT WAH WAH WAAAAAAAH, THATS SO HILARIOUS! its rehashed benny hill crap.

Pass.

Agree with this, but I intend offence to people who enjoy his stuff. I have more respect for people who are into scat than people who like Leon Schuster's latest movies.

I have to say I am not a fan, the last one I still kinda enjoyed was so long ago, I can't even remember the name. But then again I have to say I cannot stand american slapstick comedy either. I prefer British humor, aka very dry humor. The in your face kind of comedy never appealed to me at all and I it is why I actually don't even watch American comedies.

you can say what you want about "ou Leon" but he is a fine old south african institution. getting moered by that boxer for one ;) you, like moer-my-vrou en coke and tjops oppie braai

What a load of shit, he's basically been making the same movie since 1986. You Must Be Joking!, You Must Be Joking! Too, Oh Schucks...it;s schuster, Panic Mechanic, Millenium Menace, Oh Schuks I'm Gatfol, Schuks Tshabalala's Survival Guide to South Africa and Schuks! Your Country Needs You are all essentially just rehashes of stuff he's done...updated to keep up with the times, but that is about it. But I guess that is the "Afrikaans Entertainment Industry" even the bloody music afrikaans "artists" make. They start off as a "fresh breath of air" and it quickly becomes (after the first album or two) rehashes of the same kak. Take Robbie Wessels, "My Vissermanvriend se Pa" and "Halley se Komeet" was refreshing, after that it's like he lost the plot, makes all the songs sound about the same and starts reusing rhyming patterns that worked previously. I can only stomach that many "Thysie" and "meisie" lyrics.

Typically I regard an Afrikaans singer as past their prime the second a "Grootste Treffers" CD gets released, because soon after that they'll release a "Kersfees" or "Gospel" CD followed by another "Grootste Treffers volume 2"

Why, is this latest leon schuster movie also about him making a movie? "We gotta get our movie finished, you guys."

Almost guaranteed to be one of those "We're making a movie for xxx" or "We're making a movie, look at the clips" kak that he is doing recently. Urgh, thinking of this I'll probably have to take my mom/dad to the movies so they can watch this...which means I'll have to watch this.

LOL C'mon man why so serious? Nobody watches a schuster movie for the plot. It's the pranks and stupid humour that I find funny... kinda resonates with my inner child because I can't not laugh at a random poep sound or joke with my siblings and family.

Also, local is lekker. It's the only movie of it's kind in South Africa with local humour.

Guess you guys are too stuck up to enjoy anything which kinda sucks but oh well.

If you enjoy watching staged 'pranks' with what is obviously actors, kudos. To me life is short enough without wasting an hour and a half of it on nonsense like Schuster's movies. He's the Uwe Boll of the South African filming industry. Although that said, at least I can laugh at a Uwe Boll film.
