Serious crime in South Africa has been declining since the advent of democracy, President Jacob Zuma said on Tuesday.

"Compatriots, with regards to safety and security, the levels of serious crime and property crime have declined since 1994," said Zuma.

"However, crime levels remain high, particularly crime against vulnerable groups, such as women and children, which require continued intensive focus."

I don't think I can believe this. What I can believe is that it has become increasingly difficult to get a case opened at the local police stations firstly because they take such a long time to respond to calls and when you do go to them yourself they try blow you off the track to actually get a case opened.
