Shadowrun - Returns

Anyone playing? So far I'm enjoying it. Maybe a little disappointed but its still worth it. I think its a game that will only get better over time because of the steam community.

Kind of disappointed there are no Steam achievements, considering most indie games with a smaller budget even have them. I have no problem with the lack of manual saving. But possibly it should save when you exit the game, it would deter people from saving all the time and they would generally have to get from 1 check point to the other. But sometimes a battle takes a while and you have to stop, which mean, start the battle over.

Damn, that is inexcusable. One of my favourite things about Torchlight II is that I can save anywhere and continue exactly where I left off when I came back. Companies need to remember that we aren't all students any more who have buckets of gaming time per day.

I'm don't disagree with them not allowing you to save where ever you want, just they should come up with something if you need to leave halfway. Else you could do one move, save , one move, oops didn't get a crit, reload.

If you want to play like that sure, but personally I won't because it would ruin the experience. The same way Borderlands 2 was ruined for me because it didn't offer save games wherever I quit. I have very little gaming time and I expect a game that I play in single-player mode to save where I am when I quit and to continue from there when I log back in.

If they really want to prevent exploitation there are other methods like saying you can only save once every 5 or 10 minutes, or whatever. But this save system will definitely be something that I will have to consider when deciding whether or not to buy the game.

Yeah of course, thats why I said I think they should at least save when you exit the game, but don't agree with adding saving where ever you want. Rapid fire F5 can rune a game. I think you could go as far as to say when you restart from a save you created from exiting the game, if you die after, it will resume from the checkpoint.

You can't stop the people from ruining the game themselves, but the developers shouldn't ruin the game for the players.

Been jamming the game. Pity there is no save function a poor over sight. But still love the visuals and setting of the game. I never played the genesis game.

This is also my 1st time playing a shadowrun game. I hope it does well, and they can release a game of the scale of fallout 2 next time. Possibly with steamworks some cool things will come out over the next year, but from what i read, the editor is a little restrictive on what you can do, but i guess nothing some updates can change.
