All right, here goes...
From my perspective this is a matter that could have been easily resolved with far less namecalling and hurtful comments. There's no need for that, so I'm asking everyone to keep any further discussion civil.
While I'm tempted to weigh on the othering of certain forum members with words like "elites" being used, it's best to focus on the situation at hand and see if we can resolve it.
I don't really want to get involved with the Steam giveaways, but I'll step in if there are irreconcilable grievances. Those who are hoping for me to take sides, or lay down the law or whatever, you'll have to wait awhile longer. I've never been a fan of acting without consultation.
Here's how I would think a normal dispute in community-run service (like the Steam Giveaway thread) to go:
The issue involving the Steam Giveaway group and dampi256 has escalated beyond step 1, so if anyone who has been removed from the group feels it was unfair, please drop me a PM.
It isn't as [-]much fun[/-] satisfying at the time as having a big ol' throwdown on the forum, but that way I also know you're serious and not just looking to sow discord in the community.

Here's how I would think a normal dispute in community-run service (like the Steam Giveaway thread) to go:
- PM, IM, or e-mail the organisers and ask about what happened, then state your grievance.
- If you are still unhappy with the organisers' ruling, send me a PM, IM, or e-mail and I'll look into it and act as mediator to see what changes (if any) need to be implemented. Don't expect overnight results. There will probably be many private discussions between the affected/aggrieved parties before we approach the community with any proposed changes.
