Should we boycot the SGS servers?

Guys,

The level of hacking and swearing on the SGS servers have gone through the freaking roof. As a Christian and a gamer that DEMANDS quality when playing online games with friends, I find it completely unaccaptable to partake in the use of the SGS servers lately.

I tried to play some BFBC2 today and the hacking going on was simply insane. I'm not talking about headshot scripts and aimbots, no no, they've gone all out and are now using some flippen weird "revive" hack that teleports enemy players to your location? WTF?!?!

There is NO control on the SGS servers anymore. It's a complete dump and the SGS admins are a bunch of...well...let me not say what I really think.

The only way we're going to get their attention is to simply STOP using their servers.

We have very good alternatives to use. We have iGame and WAGE - so lets drop these SGS morons, and start using the servers that provide us with the quality gaming that we deserve!

Who here agrees with me?

so i can join in as a magician gamer ?

...dude if you don't like the gamers then go some place else. besides it's a bit of hypocrisy calling other people names and then diss their swearing. besides you are allowed to kill but not say fuck ?

I started playing Cod4 online on the SGS servers and than I found the Igame servers, now I only drop into the SgS ones if Igame is either empty or too full for my liking. (I don't like playing with more than 10 people at once)

But SGS servers are very dodge. It is a free for all hacking ground.

only game i religiously played over at SGS was neverwinter nights 1 waterdeep. after that... well hosting and joining ftw rather than have sgs.

Noticed a lot of Dodgy goings on's on SGS lately... Insta-spwawn-teleport-hax-a-thon... Swearing, I got no problem with. Since there is a lot in the Voice overs in game (even in Russian).

Guys, I appreciate the sentiment, but Boycotting servers is not really an answer to an issue
This sounds strange coming from me but we would not like to see the servers of other service providers damaged by any actions , possibly limiting the availability of choices for the community.
Possibly taking it up with their management structure, by lodging formal complaints etc might be a better route to follow.
The thing is that they need to be made aware of issues on their servers, we encourage constant community feedback on iGame and yes, players do respond to that, but I would once again stress that simply not using their servers without attempting to make them aware of the problems on them might not solve anything
I doubt that ANY other Service provider would come to our defense if we were the ones in question, but I do think that having choices is what allows the community to grow instead of confining it to a singular provider

+1 QFT.

This should be taken up with management of the servers, as you'll get a direct and quicker response. Besides, I'm sure the management is always looking for ways to improve their servers.

Pfft you guys are late to the party after the teleport hax I have moved over to Igame/WAGE. I still play on sgs but at the first indication of a cheat/hax I move over to the other servers.

If there are better options take them I say.

Bring it to their attention and IF they jack up there stuff then you can consider going back, if you are not already hooked on another service(s). Sometimes bringing these problems to peoples attention does NOTHING, and I am almost certain in this case others have done just that. It's fine supporting multiple options and such, but honestly if nothing changes, nothing changes. South Africa on both sides of the divide (consumer and supplier), we have terrible habits.

Isn't there an SGS server you can post on? I'm sure a thread riddled with complaints would get there attention.

Really don't understand why you have to bring religion into which server you play FPS games on either.

It would be nice, but bringing it to their attention doesn't work, their head admin has his shoved up his ass, and doesn't care.
hell we needed to resort to reporting bad apples on sgs directly to EA SA, who went and did the job SGS was supposed to do :(

Guys,

I'm very sorry but to justify swearing in a multiplayer game is flippen stupid. Honestly, it really shows your level of caliber, which in this case is lower than the scum that bottom feeders crap on. It's bad enough that foul language has penetrated our games, and sure, if you want that in your games then that is what the ESRB ratings are for.

But I do remember a time on the SGS servers where swearing was NOT allowed no matter what rating a game had and it was a much better online experience. Remember, you're justifying a few swear words but you fail to look past your flat nose and realise that it opens the door for worse stuff to evolve like racial slurs which is ALSO happening on the SGS servers - thanks to people thinking it's "okay" to swear in multiplayer games.

If you want to swear on a multiplayer game, shout it at your wife (which you do anyways no doubt) - but please don't make the effort of typing it in so everyone in the game can see it. We're not interested in your braindead outbursts.

As for not boycotting the SGS servers and trying to make the "admins" at SGS aware of this - GOOD LUCK. They're fully aware of what's going on and they couldn't care less. So the soft approach has been done, and it didn't work.

You're seriously trying to defend a service that hosts cheaters, hackers and a bunch of skinny pimple faced 12 year olds swearing at you to high heaven and back? Yeah - there's no accounting for taste here then.

I've started to realize one thing over the years and that is that gamers, as we call them in South Africa are a bunch of Godless, self-absorbed, selfish people that only cares for their own personal gratification no matter what the cost to themselves or others. To actually have a collective word or culture name such as "gamer" is wrong, because that implies that you're part of something bigger than yourself - a sentiment that is sorely misplaced here.

I take back my original post, I'm sure as hell NOT a gamer - because I still have some values which haven't been skewed. Please STAY on the SGS servers. I'll use my common sense and leave you to rot while I simply play elsewhere. Enjoy.

and calling people names does not show your level of caliber ?,

you do know that it's the same to swear at people and call them abusive names, right ?

I think I saw an sgs admin the other day, turned out to be a piece of turd on the ground.

You have a very bent perspective on what's right and what's wrong.

That pretty much sums it up right there :) Quick to call people names and placing ones self in a higher standing than your fellow human being is also sin btw ;) So much for those "Christian" values.

Practice what you preach brother Neo :wtf:

PS: Whats the point then of being a part of these forums, as this is a gaming forum, and YUP you guessed it, its for gamers and all things gaming :D

Jeez Neo, I think you are having a royal freak out over something fairly stupid. Fair enough, a bunch of 12 year olds swearing at you in game is childish, but god sakes just ignore it? Why let it get to you.

Agree that SGS admins should do something about it, but the fact they are not shouldn't send you into such a rant. You also talk about swearing and how wrong it is, but in the same sentence you say that these people are lower than the scum that bottom feeders crap on. Little hypocritical don't ya think?

I say if you don't like it, don't go on their servers, simple. That way you won't be offended by any swearing etc.

Xerowing, I hear you and agree, the problem is that there have been MANY complaints made on the SGS forums and you either get mocked and laughed at by other members or simply ignored. So, my question is why should then bother any more? Seriously, go read the SGS forums in the BC2 section. There are people there who think they are "Gods" and rip everyone to shreds who doesn't bow before their eliteness. Read ASF guys specifically here, but many others.

As for the SGS admins, well there aren't any online. There was some issue or other a while back and all the admins were "fired". So good luck trying to make a complaint. This is why spawn raping/camping, swearing, hacking and generally being a tool is common place. There is no one to enforce any RoE. This is the same issue I have with MW2. Now that you can refer to a ladies genitals online in a game, people suddenly think they are the best and mustn't be "soeked" with. No thanks.

This is why my clan plays 90% of the time on iGame servers. We have two admins in our clan alone, Trompie and Stormchaser, who can enforce the RoE and they do. Hackers will be banned from the server. Swearers will be kicked for language violations. Makes for a much happier environment.

So yeah, I would support anybody who is trying to grow the SA online community, but right now I think the SGS servers are doing more harm than good to be honest.
