Should we boycot the SGS servers?

I really don't want to fight with my friends on MyGaming, but I don't see how SGS' service can be defended.

The games being hosted by SGS is being overrun by a wave of Counter Strike mentality WITH some epic hacking and cheating. C'mon guys - why defend it? We should be lighting our torches and running this monster of a gaming service out of our village! I view SGS as the scourge of the gaming community*

I dont think they are "defending" SGS. What they are saying is that if you get pubes in you fries at McDonalds it might be better to eat at KCF.... ranting about McDonalds doesn't change the fact that there where/are pubes in your fries.

But wouldn't you warn your friends to also NOT eat at McDonalds if you had such an experience? And this is not a rant, it's a call to action - however misplaced it may be (once again, see my definition of a gamer).

LOL'ings all the way the one think that irritates the hell out of me when play bc2 with these bunch of stof talking oks like Cyberjoke/Cyberdog is what is the use of playing a game if all you are doing is typing stuff-ups all round long and making fool of yourself? Best of all at the end of a round complain about your k/d I mean seriously if you don't even have the common sense to figure this out you must be a complete moron(not that he needed to prove it anymore than he already has). Then the thing that makes me angry as hell when they type that box top left I hate it it makes like this transparent box across the hole left side of my screen it is dum who though out this BS.

Neo, I agree. SGS clearly does not care anymore and sometimes the only way to make a business/host or whatever you want to call them, take notice is to avoid using their services. Eventually someone might wake up there and investigate. Well, we can hope.

But, whilst agreeing with you, I also agree with those saying you are being a bit hypocritical. You can't go on about people swearing and how it leads to worse offenses, whilst calling those same people defamatory names in the same breath. You had a valid argument about SGS etc, but you lost some credibility due to stepping over the same line as many of those on SGS. Is all I'm saying.

As for SGS, I've experienced 1st hand just how ignorant they are and even so, I still can't believe they are so "godlike" that they do nothing. It is astounding to witness their ignorance and it is going to be pretty spectacular to watch them coming crashing down from Mount Olympus, when the majority of serious/honest gamers, clans and others stop using SGS due to rampant behavior on their servers. Yes, there will always be people there, but even hackers/cheats need somewhere to play threat free.

Side note, notice how you never see many of SGS "regulars" on WAGE or iGame servers. Always the excuse of those are *** servers. Bad lag or some or other excuse. Real reason, they get banned on those servers cause admins and PB actually work.

Well my mind is made up - I'm not using the SGS servers anymore. I'm going to play on iGame and WAGE even if it's not on hardcore mode (I will miss my precious hardcore mode)

The level of hacking and swearing on the SGS servers have gone through the freaking roof... etc

FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION THAT!

I play CoD4 just about every day, emphasis on the word play.

I've been having some problems connecting to iGame's servers lately so I've been visiting the SGS servers. About 4 days ago I was in a server with a bunch of guys who will remain nameless. There was a lot of chatting going on. Something like this:

Player 225: Hay 422 are you a k*ff*r?
Player 521: lol
Player 422: what
Player 225: nah lol k*ff*rs don't play cod
Player 123: lol
Player 099: lol
Player 902: lol i'm trying to imagine a k*ff*r playing cod!
Player 422: lol



I wish that I was clever enough to think of taking a screenshot so I could send it to whatever is running SGS.

About a quarter of the time there's a lot of chat spam, you get noob; noob; fail; idiot; moron; you suck at this game; noob, etc. It just goes on and on, these people take time out of their game to call someone a name or put them down (their own team-mates too).

The rest of the time it's pretty normal, serious teamwork efforts (Defend!) only in the chat, stuff like that.

Then if you're lucky you get on with about 8 people and they're all just playing for fun and then the comments and bizarrely fun gameplay can have you rolling on the floor. Eg. an enemy throws a nade, it kills FOUR of my players (out of 5), the dead guys are just typing "LOL" and "nice nade", in the chat. Then some typical SGS regular joins this mad server and he starts calling people noobs in the chat all the time... I tell him, "hey, calm down man, you're taking this game too seriously." and he replied with "okay. you're right... sorry". True story.

So my conclusion is that the SGS CoD4 servers are the breeding ground for the worst of the worst in the South African gaming community, but on some nights you can hang out with the right bunch of dudes who are also just playing.

I forgot to add in my post that is too long, I saw a hacker the other day on an SGS server. I load up CoD4, join the game, spawn with no teammates around me and I have UAV Jammer BEHIND A WALL. Did not take one step. Dead.

Watched the kill cam, there was no possible way he could see me, he deliberately turned around and shot 2 bullets at the wall and killed me. :wtf:

It's not always fun being an public admin on iGame so i sometimes play on SGS and other servers if i just want to chill/laugh and be called a hacker or noob or whatever if my kills gets to high.

So for me SGS servers have a place like Xero said. Don't boycott it, play there and try to make it better by ignoring the swearing, voting etc. If it really gets to much to handle, come join us on the family friendly iGame servers.
