After the trip to rAge and spotting the below rig. I was wondering if there are any others out there which are weird and wonderful, or just plain colourful. Please feel free to post your pic/s of your rig/s here or any others you have seen along the way.

Why thank you for taking an interest in my R285 no name brand case. Unfortunately I don't have a high end camera on hand to do it justice. So no photo... /runs

Nice case. I'm curious about the placement of the fan near the HDD bays though? Seems a bit...random.
 
Everywhere I looked at the LAN there was a Cosmos chassis somewhere. That was intimidating, mostly because all those people have more money than I do. :-<

Mind explaining why?

As I see it a fan that is either pulling in cold outside air or pushing out warm air would be better.

Plus its a water cooled GFX so blowing (warm) case air on it seems a bit weird.

idk...I've just never seen a fan placed like that.

Haha. People spending 5k on buying a case aren't intimidating...mostly they're just a joke. Regardless of how much cash I have I'd never go for that. What Archer did with his build...custom built & laser cut...now that has style.

It'll cost much less & I'd have fun doing so.

Plus if it were to come down to an epeen measuring contest...*unique* custom designed case vs the "Everywhere I look [..] cosmos chassis"....slam dunk right there. Oke spends 5k and then there are 10 identical cases...fckin lol.

Not quite in a position to blow that kind of money...but well on track to build my on case eventually. It'll be a clinical efficient design...with little thought regarding looks though. Maybe its my German background. :D

I was kidding with my response, but I think this answers it. Since everything's water cooled the fans and lights are just for show.

I'm assuming you're talking about the above green and black build belonging to Archer (I saw it on Carbonite.co.za so I'm not 100% sure we're talking about the same Archer). Archer's case looks sexy but I think it looks sexy because he built it by himself... if a manufacturer was selling the exact same thing I wouldn't go anywhere near it.

Just because you enjoy building a case from scratch doesn't mean other people will too and a really good looking custom build is going to be expensive (and take a lot of time... time is money "whistling:).

I also can't see how you don't like lights and colours but think custom builds are better, for me lights and colours are what make custom builds. Comparing the above two pics, which looks cooler/better?

That does not seem like the 'German' thing to do at all. Buy a new and very expensive M3 OR modify a Supra to go like the M3... for some reason I think the German thing to do would be to get the M3 (aka the Cosmos).
Also, not everyone knows how to modify their case so that it actually looks good.

In my opinion the best of both worlds would be to get a sexy, beautifully designed case (like a Cosmos) and then have a professional company make it stand out like this Cosmos done by Smooth Creations.

Of course. I just don't see the point in dropping 5k on a case that is identical to the 10 Cosmos cases at rage. Especially not when there is *so much* you could do with 5k.

You mentioned time is money. Agreed & if a person wouldn't enjoy a building a case like Archers then it doesn't make sense. Still...for 5k I'd imagine you can get someone to build whatever you want for you.

I was talking about a custom case costing 5k, vs an uncustomized Cosmos case also costing 5k. i.e. Responding to James' comment.

To answer your question. Both look good. I'd take Archer's though. Its unique & has style. I just mentioned a name and you knew which one I'm talking about. I don't see a Cosmo with a point job having that effect.

As you say, to each his own I suppose. Perhaps I should rephrase - I don't specifically *dislike* the whole lights etc they just don't do anything for me. It doesn't perform any better & I don't feel the need to impress anyone with lights so I'd rather buy more expensive components or improve the airflow or upgrade earlier.
