Signature sizes reminder

559 x 142 Looks like mines is oversized. Looking to use the playfire gamercard. Is it okay if i keep the "Now Playing" userbar/thing, or is the regular auto-updating thing a problem?

Shadowfox, yours seems to be 450px × 135px.

I'm leaning heavily toward the 130px limit with exceptions for certain auto sigs that don't look terrible; Exophase being one and yours possibly being another.

The ones above being displayed by To0kenZa, faffa and DenSweep make a compelling argument for the 130px height. They give enough room for creativity and look cool without dominating the page.

I'm going to try and get in contact with the person who created the script that generates my sig - if I can get the source code off her I'll play around a bit and see what I can do to modify it to fit the guidelines (might take a while since I'm nobody's idea of a programmer) a little better - or create my own from scratch.

There's a slightly smaller version which dumps the quote at the bottom, but to be completely honest I prefer the wider version I had previously - the only problem there being that the height for that version is 150px.

Okay;

Feedback on this set of rules:

1. Signatures 600px wide X 130px high.
2. The only exceptions to this would be for auto-gamercards, but nothing larger than 150px high.
3. Only one image per signature.
4. One line of text; no multi-leveled text.
5. Auto-gamer cards larger than 130px means you can't have a line of text beneath.
6. Everyone will be subject to the same rules and no exceptions will be made on a per-pixel basis.

Ok, so are these the FINAL rules? :-P Cos I've started work on a sig and have been waiting for the final verdict on the size dimensions, and it's been jumping around quite a bit .-.

Not bad sounds reasonable for most people

There goes my release countdown :(

I haven't made any final rules yet. I only intend to do that once.

The discussion so far has been to flesh out the various concerns and desires that people have towards the signatures.

The above-mentioned is probably how I'm going to roll unless someone raises a very good argument against it.

Ok cool. I'm happy with them thus far, will hold back on my sig till the rules have been finalised. Will keep my eyes peeled till then

So i should choose Xfire or SC2 cant have both

Well, given that James is allowing some leeway with regards to auto-generated sigs (mine is at 135px currently), I've gone ahead and removed the link that was in my siggie and used the image itself as the link.

I must admit, I don't particularly miss my sig. It was helpful to find my own posts in threads, but avatars work just as well.

Here is a perfect example of how not to do it and exactly the reason why these rules need to be enforced, otherwise people do this.

Wonder if we couldn't ask James et al to have a bar at the top/bottom of the forum with scrolling release-dates/countdowns/something? Hmmm :3.

That's a good idea; I wonder if it could work... What were you using before? I tune these things out...
