SimCity 2013

I really like the game, but I'm sort of disappointed I didn't hold off a month or so and gotten it once all the issues have been sorted. I haven't really played much since Sunday night because some of the bugs and issues are really hampering my enjoyment at the moment, foremost amongst which is that you need to design your city to accommodate the shoddy AI.

Last night I was looking at how I can inprove trafic flow only to see a bus that was full where it will unload everyone then reload them all and this in an hour+ ingame so just deleted the bus stop. Also traffic seems to work better if you don't speed the game up.

And last night a building burned down behind the fire station :S

Pooky the solar power upgrade is done so now you can get the ones that produces loads of clean power.

This game is fun but its obviously broken.
I made the most rubbish little town last night with just the basics - water, electricity, sewage and rubbish.
No police or fire station etc. not even a town hall yet.
Then i just put industrial, commercial and residential zones and push up the taxes a bit and i rake in 15k per hour.
Every minute i can just delete the burnt down buildings.
Already sitting at 1.5 million simoleons after about 2 hours played :/
And my approval rating is still around 70%

I'll agree that there are some seriously broken mechanics. However, it's not really the point to simply save up as much cash as you can - you're supposed to try nurture a thriving metropolis :)

Still, I know that in SimCity 4 for example, you'd be screwed if you made a crap town as you described above.

Yeah, I can also easily get 1.5 million simoleans in 2 hours while just building the minimum amount of required buildings, but that would be missing the point of the game a bit.

Yeah, I've decided to shelve the game for now. I'll try again in a month or so and see if all the issues are resolved. Really great game, but brought down by some design oversights and bugs.

Yeah but it should punish you for making mistakes...not reward you.
I was trying to stretch my budget by cutting corners and then realised that my careful planning would count for nothing.

Problem with BF3 is that every Tom, Dick and Harry bought Premium because it made financial sense.

Except for those of us who decided to buy the DLC separately because we didn't know if we'd still be playing the game by the time the last DLC came out. Now those of us who decided to go that route are being treated like second-rate customers.

But that's a discussion for another thread. ;)

I hear you...

In any case, how's the learning curve in this game, never played a SimCity game, and I'm genuinely intrigued.
