SimCity servers not needed to run game simulation: RPS report

Then why do you make things up if you did not even have the problems? makes no sense.

Could it be that he decided not to purchase it because experience told him that the launch would be a disaster just like all always-online launches in history ever?

Doesn't it bother anyone else that Shirou has an ad in his signature? An ad for a Lotto site no less. Maybe he's trolling to get a continuous flow of free advertisements?

I could be mistaken :D

Yes, actually advertising of any kind is illegal on the forums...

I'm not sure how this is relevant in the first place? I don't necessarily agree with what he's saying, but pointing his advertisements out in this thread instead of somewhere where it's more relevant (PM to James or Shirou) makes it seem like you're trying to discredit his argument by discrediting him, instead of addressing his argument.

Fair enough, it's not relevant to the discussion at hand. But the possibility that he might be trolling is relevant and the only reason that I mentioned it.

Seriously dude, PM James as they know about it, and stop making false assumptions.

The fact that he has an advertisement in his signature has nothing to do with his argument. Concentrate on his argument. Don't try to discredit him by using things not related to his argument.

Back on topic: I don't mind online-only DRM, unless it is used to influence the larger gameplay mechanics, which is what Diablo 3 did. Blizzard designed the entire game around having your character's stats be dependent on gear, and then they nerfed item drops, all in an attempt to get people to use the AH. Simcity luckily does no such thing.

Oh you mean like swearing at him?

Thanks Graal, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

Signature removed, sad that people judge someone so quick before getting the facts first.

Anyway, sorry if you though it was a reason to troll or spam/scam anyone but it was not.

Misrepresentation of facts used in entirely out of context. Nice.

Please take this to the 'Graal-Wyzak Effect' thread of you'd like to continue this discussion, because I'm not going to derail this thread further.

Then i can say regarding offline games..

1.) why should i go spent money on a game where everyone else will have a cracked FREE version.
2.) I won't be able to play with any online friends as it's a offline game and had no social abilities to be connected.

oh and most importantly.. my PC Crash i lost my saved games, and then the game just lies to dust, where now my games are fully saved on servers abroad.

what did I make up? And you argument about offline games you cant have certain things.... um you do know its possible to have both? I believe that's what most people are asking for. I'm not saying don't have online at all.

Buy a better PC so it doesn't crash (Pretty much the same argument you have with get a better ISP).

I always like to debate points. You can in all likelihood play the cracked game offline alone and it might even be like the normal offline experience. But it might not be the complete up to date experience, and it will in all likelihood certain elements of the game missing from cracked games like the ability to play online with your friends who have bought the game. Playing online should be an optional experience but a beneficial experience, it shouldn't be a critical requirement. Take Diablo III for example. You could play offline when your friends are offline and have the best experience, and then switch to online when they are online where you take a slight knock in the experience but you gain by having your friend in the same game.
2.) I won't be able to play with any online friends as it's a offline game and had no social abilities to be connected.
That's not true. Take Torchlight II for example. You can play offline and level your character or play it at LAN without any Internet requirement. And then you can take your offline / LAN character online by logging into their account and play with your friends over the Internet from anywhere in the world. There is absolutely no rule which says that you can't have one without the other.

oh and most importantly.. my PC Crash i lost my saved games, and then the game just lies to dust, where now my games are fully saved on servers abroad.
So just because you have a dodgy PC that crashes we need to live with always online DRM? Have you ever heard of making incremental backups of your characters? I personally make a backup of my Torchlight II characters manually at the end of each gaming session. So if something disastrous does happen and I lose my entire gaming session, I still only lose that and not the entire character...
