i disagree dude. the reward of whittling down a giant is major boost to whatever skills you are using to do it. and the risk is failr minimal if you approach it right. i killed one giant by sniping from a distance, and then hiding. so i would go into sneak, hit him with bow and arrow for double damage, run away and hide, rinse repeat. after his health was about a quarter way gone, he came running at me. then something brilliantly amazing happened. i found that if i kept a tree between me and the giant, i could kill him at my leisure with combo of arrows and magic :-) i just kept strafing around the tree and he never once hit me :-) did the same thing with 2 other giants, so not a flook

Thats an AI pathfinding exploint you get there. My main skills are fast approaching 100 so for me the risk out weighs the reward. They carry minimal loot and if things go south you die quickly. Until they nerf that club down from God-Killer to Bone-Breaker I may actually go after them. Perhaps I will save it for my second char when I go Battle Mage and leave all this sneaky sneaky stuff behind.

Last night was sneaking through the bushes when this bear charged out of no where, before thinking shouted (with Ice Form equiped) bears momentum carried it on past me and into a river, which then whisked it away and over a particularly high water fall. EPIC.

I must say, for an SP game to keep me away from MW3, Battlefield 3 etc is rather impressive.

Granted I've been a huge elder scrolls fan since Arena way way back then, but I never expected Skyrim to be THIS good. I chose to play at the "adept" difficulty level to have a bit of a challenge, and it's been great so far. I'm loving the fact that it's not as easy and straightforward (for the most part, and maybe just for now) as Oblivion, as I am forced to hunt for hide and leather, mining for ore, and doing smithing, and the current level gear I got is getting me nowhere, I thought I was roundabout level 15, but I checked i'm only level 10 now. A normal "kill bandit leader" quest from the inn has me using so many potions, as my 21base damage scimitar on my imperial fighter dude barely even dents a bandit leader's healthbar.

So it's a challenge, and I'm loving it.

Can't wait for the "no fast travel" and "no map markers" mod.

couple quick questions :

1) I killed every single enemy in Fort Amol (the fort full of mages) and yet it still does not say "cleared" on map? does this mean there is a future mission here, or do FORTS not show as CLEARED ?

2) Lydia has fallen while bravely defending my loot. uhhm....i mean life. defending my life. coz it would be wrong to use her as a luggage mule :-) anyways, dead companions. can they be brought back, or is that it ?

i am SOOO jealous of you PC gamers coz of the insanely fun mods you guys get :-( plus the game looks best on PC. sigh, will jsut have to console myself (no pun intended) with my big screen TV and comfy couch :-P

but yeah, the game is insanely fun! i am playing at ADEPT but finding it a tad easy. may just bump level up a notch. is there a way to tell what lvl the enemies are ?

I dunno, have that same thing. Could be that there is a possible future quests there.

I think if companion dies thats it. Which is why Lydia is in my house. I like to think she is guarding it since all my lootz are in there. (Have stopped selling stuff as I have 20K gold and nothing to spend it on untill I get to buy the house in Wind Helm.
The way I figure if I keep my loot later, if I need $$$ I can just sell all the Glass Sword, Gem Stones, Ebony gear.

Also noticed that at lvl 39 (where I am now) I am getting really cool loot from Enemies, Ebony Swords etc.

Edit: Whohoo! My blood on the ice quest ins't busted, its just incomplete.

While the mods and stuff is fun I prefer my console version, Modding Fallout 3 on PC made it fucking temperamental & unstable (possibly to me being a noob but hey). But thats just personal Preference. Once I get my new laptop I am planning on picking this up for PC/Mac and want to mess around with modding myself.

Just wish the game wasn't limited to 60fps. Even running everything on ultra maxed out. I still get max fps.
Would so love a huge patch that will upgrade the graphics quite a bit.

I've got some sweet mods already installed for skyrim, and My game is stable and running sweet as can be.

Got the HD texture pack, which replaces 90% of the ingame textures with 2048x2048 resolution textures. Using the ICCC Post process injector to beautify everything ontop of that. It changes /tweaks the Ambient Occlusion, HDR / Bloom, Sepia, contrast etc.
Also using the HD Terrain textures and Distand Land textures packs, HD Foliage packs which beautifies trees, shrubs etc. Using the Water replacement mod which makes the water look even Better, specially while underwater, replacement snow and rain too. Snowstorms actually look like snowstorms now, where you can barely see 4-5 meters infront of the character, which to me is epic for immersiveness.

Use the HD packs like I did, My machine ran it smooth as butter with the stock game, but modded with the HD textures and models you can see it starts chowing a bit more.

NooOOooOOooo!!!! :-( it was an absolute tragedy the way it went down. i'm pretty sure the below info is not a spoiler, coz its not quest related, but read at yr peril ppl.

i was trying to do head east to go stab a tree and get some for that priestess in Whiterun. fastest way appeared to be a dragon shrine marker (i forget name) which was not too far from goal. when i got there (accompanied by Lydia and some other dude) i started attacking the Dragon. all was going well, but then we suddenly got attacked by a new enemy! won't say who or what, but long-story-short is that he butchered the poor civilian, destroyed my poor lydia, and then proceeded to have his wicked way with my bunghole :-( i barely managed to hang in there and eventually had to resort to cheap-arrow potshots to whittle him down. got a sweet mask at the end though :-) cest la vie

JOker check the skyrim mods thread

I've gone through it thanx mate.
Still nothing really ground breaking or something that offers huge gains. I am a bit of a graphics whore xD Just feel the game had insane potential when it came to visuals..meh

The game is still in its infancy, give it time, but those 2048x2048 textures along with the Post process injector makes a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE difference ingame.

Took this now to show you guys how it looks on ultra settings with everything set to maximum.
It looks good but can look better.

Yup, only benefit we get for playing on PC is a high framerate and very high resolution. I still think the game looks wonderful though, artistically very strong.

Yeah, they chose their art style well. I love the little details on weapons.
