Same here, learned that the hard way via Fallout 3.
Same here, doing the stormcloaks quests now and its getting interesting
Just took over Whiterun, now for the rest of the towns!
Also, if your doing the stormcloak line, in the Palace of the kings, you can interact with the strategic map on the table in the room on the left and update your map with all the camp locations.

Anybody thinking of Moving House... DONT DO IT!
I emptied my Misc side table that has all my jewels, crafting equipment.... over 1000lbs. Weapons Amlost double that. Me and poor Lydia did about 5 trips before I got bored and decided to leave it for another day.
House in Wind Helm = Epic though. Love the Armor mannequins.

The blade of woe is a decent but not that great, i prefer Mehrunes' Razor
19 DPS! 19!!!!! Even not sneaking my Blade of woe does at least 50.
I dont think I have one weapon that does under 50 damage. Each of my axes do in the 70s. Bow is 140 something. It does look cool though.

im busy with that quest now, just have the hilt so far. i've got the blade of woe but it's run out og charge, can anyone tell where to get it recharged?

On console select the Item and hit RB then select a soul gem and it recharges it. If ur on PC there should be a "Charge" key displayed along the left hand bottom of the screen.

do i need a specific skill or perk unlocked? i take it i need a full soul gem as well, is the only way to fill gems by using weapons that capture souls?

No u dont need any perks. Yep Empty Battery isn't going to run a vibrator now is it? Either Soul Trap or Buying them at magic retailer.

I have yet to encounter any magic retailers (only the ones who sell spell books), i take it they are at the college of winterhold?

i think i shall dual wield the Blade of Woe and Mehrunes Razor
I dont see the point of dual wielding Daggers. Especially when you have Assassin's Blade perk or Ancient Shrouded Gloves. Also I noticed that If you dual wield stealth attack the kill animation either dont play or u still get the plain one blade one.
Stop time Shout + Dual Ebony & Deadric Waraxe = carnage. Took out about 6 or 7 enemies, it was like something out of The One.

Ever Jarl has a court wizard that sells Magical Shit. If they sell Spell Books they sell Souls Gems either full or empty.
You can also check at general vendors, like Belethor in Whiterun. They also have soul gems.

thanks for the help guys, havnt played as a mage yet so not really paying attension to mage/mage vendors in my current playthrough.

Later you will find a place called Blackreach, there you will be able to mine for Soul Gems.
There are quite a few Geodes to mine from, but i haven't found any of them out in the world yet, only in this epic dungeon.
