Slow Internet Connection

Hey people

I have a 4/mbs Uncapped line and data at Telkom , Recently moved to uncapped , Through the week playing games like Crysis 3 and Guild wars 2 I have had no lag what so ever , until I reach the weekend , On Saturdays and Sundays I cannot even play a 30 second video on You-tube let alone play Guild wars the connection becomes extremely slow . So I contacted Telkom thinking that there was a problem with the line through a few steps from rebooting my router and re-entering details nothing worked , The the person told me that " there is allot of strain and usage on their lines that nothing can be done about slow connections over the weekends and that I have to live with it. Now Me thinking , I pay a allot for this new 4mb/s line ( where previously I had a 2mb/s line also at Telkom and no such problems occurred ) How the hell can nothing be done about this or am I mistaken , because what is the point of buying a high speed line from them if I can even use it over the weekend

Am I mistaken or is there something wrong with them ?

You should tell them that you pay MORE then the Average customer and as such should get an advantage...

I've been in the same situation where my connection becomes unusable over weekends but during week nights its 100%. Maybe i was just lucky but i kept phoning and nagging and phoning and nagging until eventually they moved my line to another rack where there was suppose to be "fewer" people.

Seems like it worked because my line speed improved over weekends and haven't had major issues since then *knock on wood* :)

I suggest trying to get a hold of someone higher up that actually might know what they are talking about.

Hi But-Ninja??

The problem your explaining is probably congestion on your exchange during the weekend - possibly happens after hours too.

I had this problem from around Sept last year until November, and it only seemed to be resolved when we signed petitions in our area and hammered Telkom with Daily phone calls with Ref numbers and contacted Hello Peter ( This actually worked the best ).

What i can tell you works great with Telkom is working in numbers, put up sign boards in your area close to the exchange asking people to create their own Ref numbers due to the same problem, write up a letter and go an ask people for their signatures.

I can tell you that just sitting on your arse and complaining or bitching at Telkom wont work, go out there and put singnage up and get that petition to upgrade the exchange signed.

They are currently running fibre in our area from our exchange :P

Good luck!
