Well I get weekly texts saying I have subscribed to some or other thing or I can opt out by replying "NO" or "STOP" which I then do immediately and I never click on any links these dodgey companies send me. So I hope I never have to 'understand' as I take care not to get caught out, sorry wasn't aware of your hospital stay, just found your OP strange that you say you locked away your phone and sim.

Mate like I said, I did not get any form of notification, the phone and number was not in use at the time.

Anyway sorry if I came across as bastard but I have had a really tough year, I don't need things like this.

I think they just sign up any number from a database.
Same thing happened to my sister,money kept being taken from her SIM and she didn't know why,went to MTN and they said she is subscribed to something,she said she didn't sign up for anything and that MTN should have notified her about it and she MADE them cancel the subscription and MTN had to pay her the money back in full to her SIM.
