SmiteZA - Local Server (Emu Development & Information thread)

Hi guys.

I've recently embarked on a project called 'SmiteZA'. My goal is to develop a server for 'Smite', a MOBA style game that has been rapidly increasing in popularity over the last few months. You can monitor the status of the project on this thread and sign yourself up for email updates on our site; http://www.smiteza.co.za

As Smite is a proprietary game, I have to develop software from the ground up in order for this type of project to stay within legal bounds. This is a long and complicated process, but I am fairly experienced in this field.

Code:
Game emulation/server development status:
80% - Game Servers - (Months of development and research)
50% - Chat Server - (Using code from previous projects.. SAHon!)
50% - Login Server - (Using recycled code)
10% - Gods script development
0% - Website / Social / Forums development

I am currently the only person working on this project and as such, progress is slow. Some of the things I would like to implement:

*Accounts system linked to the official servers.
*Weekly draws should reflect official server draws.
*Custom games, the way we like them in SA.
*Regular updates.
*Ability to easily switch between SA and Official Smite.
*JHB as well as CPT server zones. (Perhaps PLZ and DBN too?)
*Custom launcher that allows for the entire game to be copied around without re-downloading or re-installing everything.

Cheers and thanks for reading.

I would suggest that you can keep the zones to CPT and JHB only as PE and DBN are mostly "POP" zones anyway and terminate in the main networks in CPT and JHB.

I have some servers in DBN and PLZ doing absolutely nothing. But yeah, it depends on how popular this gets. Atm it is just a fun project for me. I'm having to do some really boring code like chat and login servers. I am quite far along with the game server itself, just have to do the scripting for gods and spells. I can probably automate a lot of it via sniffing. I'll be up all night populating the database:)

Largest player enum ive seen in any game yet.

Cheers Ouboet, ill catch you ingame when I have a chance to play.

Hey guys.

Just a quick update on this. I've been flying around the world on business related travels and as such havent had a lot of time to spend working on this project. To be quite honest, I was expecting more professional people to lend a helping hand.

Right now, I need someone who is experienced in reverse engineering of binaries (using tools such as OllyDbg. WinDBG etc)

The project is progressing, albeit at a very slow pace. The last time I did this, I atleast had some assistance.

Cheers!

I'd love to lend a hand, sadly I lack the requisite skill set.

I am curious as to why you went for Smite... as opposed to say Dawngate which is very slick and new and is made by MOBA gamers FOR MOBA gamers. They seem like the kind of forward thinkers who would be keen on you developing an African server. Dawn Gate
