Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed

Playing this one my Wii U atm, now and again online if I can find people.
Think this is the first racing game in ages that's caught my attention, didn't expect much of it at first though. I find it to be quite brilliant to be honest.

It's also one of the few games on the Wii U that actually uses the gamepad to it's full potential with regards to splitscreen. One gets the big screen, the other the gamepad.

Transformed, most of the soundtracks are from the their original respective games like Shinobi.

It kinda has that need for speed 2 + drift vibe to it. Also you switch from car to plane to boat during races.
I see this game scored 80/86 on meta-critic, so I'm not the only one.

Game is faster paced than most racing games out there, you can actually feel the speed in this one with all the drifting and boosting.

I played it when it was the free weekend on Steam. I quite enjoyed it, once you get into it it has that "just one more race" quality. Also the game looks great and there's a nice variety of tracks. I'd definitely pick it up for the Xbox someday - would be a great party game.

I have this game on Nintendo 3DS and it is really a blast to play. Was on special for R199 at BT games last month.

Watch out Mario kart?

I have Mario Kart, played it but couldn't see what all the fuss was about.
Sonic is different however, played it just to admire the levels and detail that went into it.

Even with the new Mario Kart coming it seems not that much of an improvement over All Start Racing Transformed. Looks like these games are going the Trackmania/Rollcage route.
