Sony blunders

I would be lying to you if I said I wasn't an unabashed Playstation fan.:D

However, in recent times, Sony has really disappointed me with their strategic disposition. Their complete lack of foresight startles me.

I'm referring to the "we don't pay for exclusives, its a priviledge to publish on our platform" sentiment they've adopted. In other words, the cause of their current predicament - 3rd place.

Rewind a couple of years. Microsoft realises once the novelty of playing Halo (which was balls in my humble opinion) and Gears wears off; there's no amount of hype and posturing that can convince people to buy an xbox. Cue the systematic pillaging of all Sony exclusives.

Instead of realising that games are the key to winning the console war, Sony not only allow this to happen, but they don't loot anything respectable in return.

Before I get blasted by all the xbox fans out there; consider this (and be honest with yourself), which console would you buy:

Xbox360: Gears and Halo

PS3: Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4; Grand Theft Auto 4; Tekken 6; Metal Gear Solid 4; The Last Guardian; God of War 3; Killzone 2; Final Fantasy 13; Uncharted 2...the list goes on forever.

Anyways guys, sorry, needed to get that rant out. And Sony, I demand a job from you; because someone is clearly not doing their's.

P.S. Take this for what it is; a lament of Sony's failed potential. And please, no altruistic comments about how cross-platform publication is good for the gaming industry as a whole (and how such gives more gamers the opportunity to experience these games) or how developers are ultimately driven by money. This is my fantasy world. :p

Those ones in bold was multiplatform for because sony thinks their machine is the second comming.

You forget titles like Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Crackdown, Fable II, Ninja Gaiden II (yes i know ur now getting sigma almost a year later) Trails HD, Shadow Complex and others.

Dude...

RE5, DMC4, FF13, GTA4 are also on 360......

The only thing you are actually trying to do is justify your purchase, dont get me wrong ive got a 360 again now.

I wouldnt buy a console only for the pure purposes of exclusives, i buy a console based on how many of my friends own each console, (in my case only 1 had a PS3 while like 20+ had xbox). Dont get me wrong each console has its pro's and con's but for me as i said its not exclusives

And just to let u know the xbox360 is also getting MGS:Rising the new one coming out.

EDIT: Uhm guys, Malphas is actaully saying that SOny messed up by allowing their USUAL exclusives to become multi platforms. Instead of dishing the required cash to try and keep them. Which would have made the PS3 more appetising.

Well to be fair the Xbox doesn't JUST have Gears and Halo as exclusives.

Forza3, Halo: ODST, Left for Dead 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Alan Wake and Mass Effect 2 all still need to make their appearance.

But your right. Grand Theft Auto 4, Resident Evil 5, Tekken 6, FF13 even the next Metal Gear Solid will come out on both consoles.

While this might leave a bad taste in the mouths of PS3 owners, I, as an Xbox 360 owner, won't complain. :)

I forgot about those. And another thing Why do PS3 players always moan about Halo? I really dont understand it.

Lol oops :D

Sorry malphas, but i dont think its Sony that says which games are exclusives, its the companies that makes them no?

Wow Caboose, good response. If something slightly disagrees with your opinion you remedy matters by ctrl-v'ing and bandying about unfounded claims. I mean, you most probably heard this troll word and couldn't wait to use it.
Disregard the fact that there are threads practically based around trolling (xbox360 vs PS3) hosted on this site. But still, nice use of graphics. Now run and go and report this post to the admins.

Anyways, all my thread was trying to allude to was Sony's stupid attitude - to quote OmegaFenix22: thinking that their machine is the second coming.

I'm sure Sony could have pulled a few strings. They have managed it in the past. Taking Final Fantasy from Nintendo and making it a Playstation exclusive; and bringing Resident Evil back from the madness of Gamecube exclusivity.:D

So far up until now the Xbox has certainly been in the lead with its line-up. However, after looking at this years E3 line-up it seems to be getting muuuuch better for Sony.

I think Sony long-term will manage to catchup; but right now as it stands, both platforms I feel are very good investments with great exclusives and shared titles on both sides. The Xbox has the lead but like I mentioned earlier, the PS3 is starting to take some ground.

Halo ODST looks kinda nice, but i've played Halo 1.2.3. And honestly couldn't see what the fuss is about. But all platforms have good games either way ;)
Easiest solution, buy all of them and stop complain :p

To be honest...I still would have gotten an Xbox :D None of those Sony games interest me minus possibly Final Fantasy XIII. I'm no huge FF fan though.

I use my Xbox mainly as a Media Centre extender anyway.

I have to agree with you with you there, I found Halo to be very dull.
(No offense to any Halo fanbois) :p

Single player is ok. But apparently the multi player sets it apart from the rest. I wouldn't know, never played it online.

I also found the single player meh, story is hardly that great.
But the multiplayer is great fun!!!
It's the only place Halo 3 shines and no wonder its always at the top spot on XBLive
