Sony DADC production facility set ablaze during London riots

This whole riot is like the weirdest thing ever. So I can understand why the original guys went on a bender because they were angry that a cop shot their drinking buddy, but why on earth did it expand and get sooo out of control? The stock markets are also in the toilet now...if sony products become more expensive because of this I'm going to be soooo pissed. I need to buy a bunch of stuff for my flat. sigh.

That's not good. These world events are starting to affect our gaming. First the Japan earthquakes and tsunamis, and now the riots. A lot of trouble for poor Sony. And the hackings. Hard times.

Its called Mass Hysteria or what I like to call 'Monkey See, Monkey Do' behavior. The true cause of this civil unrest is a deep rooted issue within the youth of the UK.

I highly doubt it affect prices, the general feeling here is one of business as usual.

Sony really seems to have crappy firewalls.

ROFL, good one Voicy. As for the the Sony facility that was torched in london. Wont that somehow affect us? We do get most of our products Sony related from the UK or is that just the distrubution facilty for the london area?

Can you elaborate more? I'm at a loss in understanding how people can resort to this kind of chaos.

Its could be that people are looking for something to stand behind as they have the need to support the something of greater value or purpose than thier everyday life, yes the protests were peaceful at best first. But you then get people that see this as a opportunity to do something else admist the confusion and start looting... Thats how protest change to riots, its started off for a good cause but in the end some people changed the playing field and caused major unrest causing people who were already commited to follow the trend of the group... Happens when you cant think for yourself, and can't see the difference between right and wrong and fighting for something good and plain unruliness.

There is a lot of pent up anger in poorer communities. Even the initial march started out peaceful. Of course knowing the past behaviour of the UK police I wouldn't presume they did nothing to escalate things at that initial march. But regardless of how it happened some people let their anger out. Within a single large group that invariably leads to violence. But the angry people are not limited to that community, and if anger levels are high enough it can be sufficient to spark outbursts elsewhere.

It does sound like a very complicated problem. It's very sad it had to end up like this. :(

Not really about the burning of the building but this guy did get mugged of his PSP. You'd think that they were being sincere when they helped him up. Bastards :/

Your FUCK it, that was messed up they probably hit him down to start with never know we never saww the whole thing then to rob him after what the hell. People got no moral sense these day, (pardon the stereotypying). The fact that nobody did anything and let that happen, makes you think if all people are the same... Assholes.

P.S. I do apologise for my language, but that made me a little angry...

This whole riot is disgusting. I am absolutely enraged. I can't even think of anything to say about this whole thing :/

And correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that the police aren't allowed to use force. Is this true? If I ran the country, I would have helicopters flying upside down and very low over the rioters... picture it... heads will roll.

This is pretty good - a local lecturing the looters

Based on reports of people they arrested it is now becoming clear many involved in the riot were not even poor, or black. Or even all youths. All in all it truly looks like mob mentality.

Initial reports from the IPCC now also indicate that the police officer that was shot actually caught part of a bullet fired by another officer. I've yet to see any news on whether they've been able to establish if the guy they killed even pulled out his gun (he did have one though). They are saying there is no evidence he fired at the police.

These police officers were members of Special Firearms Command. Members of the same police branch executed Jean Charles de Menezes a few years ago. A lot of suspicious circumstances around that incident.

As the woman in the above video correctly says that's no reason for the mayhem though.

And correct me if I'm wrong but I heard that the police aren't allowed to use force.
Not at all true. However unlike the bad old days they can no longer assault the public without at least being investigated and if sufficient evidence is found, prosecuted. Which is as it should be.
