So Sony has invited a few gaming media publications to attend the reveal of the "slimmest" launch in Playstation history. See the invitation below:

Sony has invited IGN to a briefing meeting, where the company is set to reveal something Slim.

An invitation, which you can see below, reads: "Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest."

The PS Vita Slim is already available in Japan, and is 20 percent thinner than the existing model, as well as being 15 percent lighter. It does away with the OLED screen for a 5-inch LCD display, which helps the battery to supposedly last up to an hour longer. The Japanese one is available in six different colours too, though we've yet to see if that's replicated in the west.

Of course the announcement could be about something else entirely, but the Vita Slim seems to be the sensible option, especially given the new appeal the handheld has thanks to the PS4's remote play functionality. Having only just launched the PS4, it's exceedingly unlikely that Sony would announced a slim version of the console right now as they traditionally come some way into the console's life-cycle. Seeing as we've already had the PS3 Slim and the PS3 Super Slim, it seems unlikely we're about to encounter the PS3 Super, Super Slim.

PS Vita Slim Set For Release in Europe and North America?

Definitely waaaay too early for a slim PS4, so the Vita seems like the only sensible option. Guess we'll find out later in the week. What does everyone think it'll be?

The Vita never really got to me, as I had a PSP1004 before. Not interested in handheld console that much.

But if it looks promising with some internal improvements, I will maybe consider something like this in the far future.

This will be awesome if they then make a PS Vita PS4 Bundle... Then im game... :D

The vita hasnt really ever appealed to me, but with a ps4 it seems to make sense....

Why they doing away with the "OLED" display, it's brilliant if you ask me. Color, contrast, viewing angles, even if it does help the battery last longer, I'd prefer quality over quantity.

Same here. Glad I got the OLED Vita before the Slim hits with a LCD screen.
