Sony updates user agreement, warns of side effects of 3D

I may be wrong, but I think with this 1st gen of 3D hardware, there are still gonna be long term issues. I'd give it a few revisions before i even remotely consider it and even then, the cost is still ridiculous.

I can confirm that even with the Nvidia 3D Vision system it does put strain on your eyes. But, and it's a big one, it does not HARM your vision. I've done some reading up on this and so far all of the studies done have shown that it just stresses your eyes - but not in a harmful way. Some older folks who are use to eye strain due to age don't even notice the effects of 3D media, so it's like comparing an athlete to a couch potato - the couch potato will sweat running up a flight of stairs whilst the athlete won't even notice.

I have found that I can only play for a maximum of about 1 hour before I need to take the glasses off. I've also come to the conclusion that wearing glasses to play a game where you need to have super concentration (like Starcraft 2) does get annoying and I find myself always playing WITHOUT 3D Vision.

I've watched a few things in 3D and it did hurt after a while. Even though they say there isn't any harm to it, there must be something wrong if you strain your eyes for two or so hours a day. I'm not to keen on the whole 3D thing though because it doesn't make a game any better... and I feel like a dork in those glasses :P

This 3d thing will never stay. It is just a faze and I really don't think 3d is any good.

To be fair 3D done well is truly awesome. Take Avatar for instance, a good movie i guess but the 3D version was fantastic. My main gripe is the cost.

Agreed Toxin. It does look brilliant and the cost is simply too prohibitive currently.

As for there being no bad eye strain, I struggle to believe that. Granted I'm no eye doctor or even a medical professional, but something says to me that when it's hurting your eyes after only an hour, it can not be good for you. Long term or short term.

About the 3D TVs - do we need to get a TV that says 3D on the label or will a 200Mhz or greater TV do? Or will any TV do? ;/

Like DenSwwep said excessive eye strain can cause long term problems, and with the habits of many gamers Sony needs a way to protect themselves regarding possible long term implications of 3D.

Personally I will wait and let the tech stabilize, but it does seem pretty sweet.

I think it has to have the abiltiy to dual scan, so 200mhz theoretically should be fine if it supports this, otherwise you have to get the correct tv. The minimum being 120mhz, for 60/60 on each eye. I could be wrong, i need to find out more about it.
