sigh, reading that thread now and like allways people will go "Does people in Africa even have computers"

They just jealous and ignorant. Hopefully there are a few less ignorant people in regards to South Africa after hosting the world cup, but i think it will be a long time until everyone realises we do not live in mud huts. (well most of us :P)

...or keep lions as domestic pets :D.

I'm seriously intrigued by Dota 2, but I fear the learning may be too steep for a complete noob:rolleyes:

Agree, just hoping now that Valve made the move to put server up in South Africa other companies will as well in the future.

Now that i see we will have SA servers i feel more like playing Dota 2 now, but i am such a noob myself and not so easy compared to playing LoL, but will give it another shot.

Seriously everyone starts out as a noob, admittedly most seem to have forgotten this at some point. It worth it, its loads of fun, i now have the problem my steam list of games i want to play is getting longer as i spend most of my time playing Dota. Just ignore people calling you a noob, and people will call you a noob.

The most basic fundamental thing is DONT DIE!. its not death match were dying just equates to one point. If the other team kills you, they will get extra experience and cash, you lose cash, and in general because it takes a while to re-spawn you also lose out on experience. Just play safe while you get the hand of it. I would also go for a ranged guy 1st, easier to stay out of range of the enemy.

EDIT: Also they have recently added a single player mode, which is meant to train you up on the basics. Try that out 1st.

There is a practice with bots option, play a few games with some bots, I'm still a noob myself but found it pretty useful.
