South Africa gets Dota 2 servers, launched by MWEB

Seriously everyone starts out as a noob, admittedly most seem to have forgotten this at some point. It worth it, its loads of fun, i now have the problem my steam list of games i want to play is getting longer as i spend most of my time playing Dota. Just ignore people calling you a noob, and people will call you a noob.

The most basic fundamental thing is DONT DIE!. its not death match were dying just equates to one point. If the other team kills you, they will get extra experience and cash, you lose cash, and in general because it takes a while to re-spawn you also lose out on experience. Just play safe while you get the hand of it. I would also go for a ranged guy 1st, easier to stay out of range of the enemy.

EDIT: Also they have recently added a single player mode, which is meant to train you up on the basics. Try that out 1st.

Only problem i allways had with Dota was for a "Noob" you have no idea what to buy for your Hero, with LoL it's abit easier.

This is awesome and I for one would love the lower ping. How do you guys think the internationals will play on SA servers. We still need them - except for the Russians as this help us improve our competitiveness..... What I am trying to say is: do you not think this can also have a negative advantage on the SA skill base? We need to play against internationals to keep learning! I do not think many European players will play on SA servers due to ping....

I for one will also play on the EU servers every now and then to check if I can still compete at their level

Every hero has suggested items. I am noob myself, but if I struggle to play a hero I will go and watch some youtube vids to get ideas for builds. Normally the suggested items works well. Or google hero builds at the start of the game i.e.: "Dota 2: Guide to Dragon Knight build" and will follow that build to test it while I am playing

That's changed, they now have hero builds (Create by the community and with a voting system), and in general the highest rated one will be pretty good build to start off with until you figure out what's good for you.

Personally I'm going to queue up on both the south african server and the Western EU server. It really depends how long it takes to find matches in SA, and I honestly don't want to play against/with the same people ever match. But going on the south african in game chat, there does seem to be a pretty big pool of south africans.

You guys need to add me on Steam we can jam together: ryno_ace. This weekend I am mostly going to play SC tho

R4C3, you have been added...

BTW, what the hell? You guys don't have a centralized thread other than THIS:wtf:

Do I necro (more like revive) or do I create a new one :D?

There should be one somewhere....

Nope, been searching, it's random disparate threads, no central discussion threads... Meh, I'm creating one, shame on the Dota 2 vets :p

EDIT: Scratch that, I'm pulling off an epic revive:D.
