South Africa makes top 10 in global eSport rankings

Actually, you did launch a forum once. How did that turn out? Not so easy to run one successfully, is it? *lowblow*

That was ages ago and we realised it was moving people away from our real content so we closed it down.. Nothing wrong with experimenting..

Running a successful forum off the back of your big brother forum doesn't take much.

And sure if you want to post the stats go wild. I would ask that you also give us a list of our top 10 news articles for the year so that everyone can see if you really do get any hits on your news or if it's true that 95% of your hits come from the non-gaming news related forums here :)

lol I doubt he would reply after that.

Its so funny, usually we are a bunch of chilled back guys:P

We're gamers. When we are faced with an "opposing team" we naturally become more competitive/aggressive. :D

Just looks at any fight between fanboys. ;)

No No you mean You've got nothing...

Honestly dude, Lazygamer isn't even on the same level as My gaming, I really didn't know about the site until this whole debacle came about. I guess you'll do anything to get more hits xD

That's actually true mate.
Just funny to see lol

It doesn't take much to run a successful community DESPITE having yet another successful community? Really? Are you genuinely that fucking stupid?

Why would yet another community exist if it couldn't stand on its own?

We've got nothing to hide...

You've got nothing to show either, which is why all you've got is this tiny little soap box to project your frustrations from.

You run a terrible site. You're a terrible "journalist" and all that you've been able to do all day is whine on your competitor's site trying to prove... what, exactly? That you're a puerile twit without an ounce of professionalism? That you're an obnoxious troll? That all that your effort in your life amounts to trying to convince your competitor's community that you're worth more than just a joke at a piss-up?

You are utterly pathetic.

But keep coming back for more, this community has plenty of stamina.

The difference here is that we at least have the facts on our side.

This is like a console peasant trying to prove his relevancy to the PC master race :)

It is really unnecessary to argue about matters when the facts are readily available.
Both websites' core readership, operations and advertising revenue are generated in South Africa, so SA traffic is far more relevant than international traffic.

I fear you don't know much about us or our revenue stream.

January 2014 South African traffic statistics for MyGaming and Lazygamer:

MyGaming

  • Unique Visitors - 43 893
  • Page Views - 488 919

Lazygamer

  • Unique visitors - 34 821
  • Page Views - 302 333

First up Mweb Gamezone is bigger than you according to those stats

  • Unique visitors - 55 725
  • Page Views - 107 093

So are we meant to all believe they are the biggest local site.

But how about we look at all traffic the EM captures.

B]MyGaming
[/B]

  • Unique Visitors - 97 257
  • Page Views - 600 015

Lazygamer

  • Unique visitors - 334 827
  • Page Views - 789 562

According to Google Analytics we received 48 000 uniques yesterday which is more than your monthly local total.

I presume admin is rpm as well? You know all of this so I don't know why you'd want it to come out in the wash, it's also dumb to keep using this as your marketing tool as people have our stats as well. Stop playing dirty it just makes you look bad.

Oh and please do post your most popular articles, I'm sure your loyal readers would love to see that.

Or maybe review a game or two if you're a gaming news website.

The the guy who didn't know we existed.. We are the only African media site that is affiliated with both metacritic and gamerankings. http://www.metacritic.com/publication/lazygamer?filter=games and we constantly bring brand new previews and features directly from the source as the international publishers fly us out to cover their titles.

So if you can handle my bad spelling and grammar at times you may enjoy it, or ignore my articles and read some of the varied stuff that Geoff, Zoe, Stephen and Matt post on a regular basis.

To the constant insults at my spelling and grammar. I'm not a trained journalist, in fact I only have an education in software and hardware engineering where spelling was never important. I'm aware of my flaws and will continously strive to improve.

That's me signing off on this one.

I'm sure if you were that proud of your product you wouldn't be trying to justify it on a competitors platform. It's like advertising Top TV on dstv or covering a BMW with ford stickers at DTC.

Maybe focus on your own site instead of trying your hardest to look petty, personally I feel your just pulling LZ further into the mud

What I can understand from this is that we're comparing traffic from local and international, which is apples and oranges.

I fear you don't know much about us or our revenue stream.

What about Darryn? That's basically the only guy in this entire thread that got some praise.

What the hell is MWEB GameZone?

This whole argument is rather funny and people can browse where they like. I don't view metacritic in any good light at all. As in, I think metacritic should not be a basis for judging games.

If more folks in the online tech news space in South Africa lived by this philosophy things would be far more pleasant than they are now. Your competitor need not fail for you to succeed.

True. They aren't even the same thing. It is like comparing News24 and MyBB. ;)

All jokes aside, I think it was pretty unwise to bash "competitors" in an article and then banging on in the "competitor's" forum.

The stats are interesting, but in this case they are only partially relevant because of the difference in platform. News site vs a full-blown community, which are both backed by bigger sites. Turns out LG has some stuff going on with News24. One is also focused on local, whilst the other tries to cover both local and international. See why they only compare on certain levels?

Also, stuff got pretty personal there for a while, which is never really warranted. We are many things, but petty, we are not. That should not really have happened. Or am I spewing nonsense?

As someone who reads both MyGaming and Lazygamer, I'm pretty disappointed in this whole thing.

I'd like unity and friendship. I hate that Lazygamer posted that article mentioning MyGaming in a bad light. The right thing to do would have been to contact James and say something along these lines: "Hey mate, just a heads up but the press release you got is wrong. Want to go for a beer sometime?"

That's how a decent person would have handled it. I'm deeply disappointed. And like I said, I'm a Lazygamer reader. In their last two Superbru competitions I ended up winning prizes.

So please Gavin, don't be a villain. South African gamers should stand together. Not push each other way.

Ideal situation. But improbable. Not the first time that he has taken jabs at this community. I've seen him comment on some articles before, typically ones where MyGaming achieved something. Also, there was that one banner thing a while back. I think they might have been related.

Not the most ideal behavior. But hey, bygones and stuff.
