I want to start a website where all gamers get together and register for the games they own. Lots of games now days use p2p so its hard for SA players to find local matches. The website would be more to do with organising days where we play a particular game instead of discussion. So lets say someone wants to play Ghost Recon Future Soldier. They then log on to the website, register as an owner of GRFS and can then create an event so that all other GRFS can join. What do you guys think about this idea?

MyGaming and iGame already cater for this?

Its not dedicated to this purpose. It needs to be more focussed on actual planned events

I reckon that there's plenty of that already going around. Normally, I just see a thread go up and then people swarm in there and organise a few games. Perhaps it can be a bit more refined, but I don't know if it will really take off.

Steam has this functionality with Steam Groups - Nobody uses it. I would say that if this simplicity is avoided, any other attempt would be counter-intuitive.

tbh.. steam suck regarding groups, reason no one use it.

On the other hand this does not sound bad and would be nice to have and see how it goes, always nice to see new games coming out and then want some buddies to play it with together and not easy to find them all the time.

DayZ got out and i had to make some friends ingame after being shot down so many times and met someone who almost wanna kill me as well, so if this was in place i would just hop on the forum and organize a time and game we play and we jump on Teamspeak together and have a pleasant gaming time.

Understood, though this concept has tried and failed in the past as well. If we could instead just promote, through use, a current system - like Steam. We would cut past teething issues and publicity of the new method.

Agree with you.

Nice idea, and I don't want to detract from it, but I'll give my 2 cents.

The main success of this thing will be getting a passionate community built and visiting regularly.

At MyGaming we've been working on this for 4 years - it's not easy.

As has been pointed out, there are plenty of threads where guys organise play sessions of whatever game of the moment.

Maybe something more structured would be efficient, so good luck :)
