South African retailer reveals what we will be paying for games in 2017

Same here. These high prices just means that I've got time to work through my backlog. The only game that is tempting so far to maybe get new is Mass Effect, but for R1000... I can wait. I'd still consider games that are around $50, but at these exchange rates, I'm not really willing to go over that.

Thanks to retailers like steam, it is easy to step into the backlog groove. You leisurely play through games you get on sale 3 years after their hot and expensive release.

The only place where the prices become pressure if it is a multiplayer game you want to play with friends/clan/guild. Then it becomes a real issue. Look at the price for the latest WoW expansion, that cost alone would have put tremendous pressure on my sense of financial responsibility if I was involved in the MMO scene.
