South Korea getting 10Gbps internet

That is indeed crazy fast. Pretty sure the internal google switches are still 10gbps max, so a home connection like that is insane.

That being said - I don't see the point tbh. Won't say no, but to me that is well into the realm of diminishing returns

Sure its cool but its kinda like having a car that can do 300kmh when the legal limit is 120.

I can see some niche applications tough - TOR-ish stuff.

Being Korea almost all of the traffic will probably come from within the country as everything there runs via the net and 99% of their television is via cable already.

Well in korea they have gameing houses so up to 20 people can share a connection so its understandable.

You can pile 100 people onto that and it'll still make little sense.

Remember PC communication is ultimately point-to-point...so unless that CNN server can deliver 10gbps the fancy connection of yours is wasted. i.e. 10gbps isn't going to feel much faster than 4mbps for many applications - except niche applications as I said.

e.g. P2P would rock in an environment where multiple people have 10gbps links.

Mean while, North Korea will get their first postal system, but the communist party is worried that the licking the stamps might popularise the western hateful, low moral, decadent and disease ridden culture.
