Space Engineers South Africa

Recently Space Engineers launched dedicated server support as opposed to the old P2P server connections. As this is their first version of dedicated servers, it is still very laggy and buggy. That is why I have been trying to find South-African Space Engineer servers.

So far, I have been unable to find any servers hosted in our country (or rather, public servers). I was wondering if anyone had plans of creating dedicated servers or know of one?

I haven't heard of any yet, but I would love it if someone did host one. This is one amazing game that unfortunately gets a little tedious in single player.

I concur. Just got SE over the weekend and I am hooked! Have not managed to find any decent online game, and I can imagine an online game being so much better still!

We've played a fair bit of online games, but the lag is unbearable. Mind you, this was before the dedicated server support. Haven't played on a proper server yet.

I also have the game and agree that the online games are laggy. And single player is only fun for so long. Also think we need a SA server

I have been playing SE for a while now and tested the dedicated servers last week with different configurations of hardware. The sad fact is the dedicated servers lag WAY more than the P2P listen servers players can host on their own. Even with Intel Xeon Quad cores the server still has a delay when selecting or building, no matter the size or amount of asteroids or low amount of debris floating about in the chosen universe. Tested with many different settings and the delay is still there even with increased RAM capacity. Not to mention the lag that kicks in when you build stations or large ships.

Fact is the dedicated server software for SE is a very early version, once the game progresses a bit and irons out some of the bugs in the software then it would be more viable to host a server.

Never a good idea to host alpha release software straight out of the gate, it will cause you more headaches than you can imagine. And the game experience will be horrible.

It sucks to hear that. But then again, this is a alpha game, and this is what we should expect. This is the problems what we are buying into when we buy early access games like this...

It is unfortunately the state of the game we purchase that determines our game experience. I love SE, playing it every night, building ships and miners, currently building fighter craft to take on the cargo ship random encounters.

But we will have to wait a while for dedicated server to be able to carry the load of 16 or more players at a time. Or even just 2 without delay or lag.

I have discovered that the latency is not too bad on the server if you keep your ship running at a very slow speed. When you start accelerating it, then it lags terribly
