Civil rights body AfriForum and trade union Solidarity said on Tuesday they would oppose the implementation of 60-40 quotas in sport favouring black players.

"AfriForum will not remain passive while the dreams and sporting careers of young people are destroyed by racist politicians and sports administrators," AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel said in a statement.

I will stand inline to sign any petition to oppose this as well call me a racist all you want but my view on this is if your good enough you desrve to be there of your not then you have to work harder to get into a provincial or national side the quota system has made our sport fail on different fronts and has made us a laughing stock in some of our sport.

Rugby has a quota system as do cricket and hokey and most other sports that in previous years were majority white but where is the quota system for soccer for one sport that i can think of stop thinking about race and think about actually be good in the different sports we participate in.

I don't mind what color you are if you are good enough to play in a national side by all means (Beast, JP, Juan, Lwazi, Ntini(retired i know) Bongi Mbonambi there are a lot to mention. but please don't come fack up a sport which i love just because you want want to make a statement and show how racist you are yourself(aimed at the idiotic politicians and sport heads that think they know what's good for our sport)

I'm not a racist i'm just passionate about sport and to see it being forced down a drain so that we eventually have no good sports team in South Africa because all are leaving for overseas opportunities because they are the wrong color just pisses me off

If you push quotas this aggressively then i'm just gonna say every black player in the SA teams has no talent and is only there to fill a quota, he has achieved nothing but ticking some politicians checklist. I.e. I will treat all quota players as cheats and i'm sure I won't be the only one in SA and global sport.

Heh. The ANC is pulling every available political string they can grab a hold of before the elections. Sports quotas, land reform, social grants and that good old stand-by: hot-dogs and t-shirts in exchange for votes.

The way they are scurrying, one could almost be excused in thinking they might be slightly... worried.
