SSDs

Does any one else have 2x intel ssds in raid0? tell me what you think. I have them and i am stuck on 270/s on sata2. Anyone know if it would be faster in sata3?

I built 2 machines the other day, 2 i7's each housing 2x256GB SSD Drives, I ran them in Raid 0 , and I got 300/s so it's roughly the same.

I'll wait till I use SATA3 myself before I can really say if it has gains over SATA2. Theoretically its like a gazillion times faster, but I'll check.

oh okay, cool! What do you do for a living building machines?

Ja, i think i could get faster speeds if, i had sata3. the 300MB limit is causing yet another bottle neck, sorted one neck out and created another one! Its strange that the bottle neck is always the hard drives. What do you think of my specs?

Intel i7 920 oc @ 3.8, 6gig ddr3 ocz ram @ 1600mhz, intel so x58 mobo, gigabyte 4890 oc, 2x intel X25-m 40gig ssds in raid0 for games and os and 2x500gig in raid0 for storage, Samsung XL2370 LED, Coolermaster v8 cpu cooler, coolermaster haf922, coolermaster silent pro 600w, Roccat kone, roccat kave, roccat valo.

What do you think? any more bottle necks that you could see? I should be getting either a 5870 or a GTX 480 soon

Sweet Rig, you will need to up the psu though if you plan on getting either of the above mentioned cards.
Looking at it now, I think your psu is already suffering alot. Def need to up the power to at least a 850 watt.

I don't really work in the workshop, I do domains, Firewalls, Routers etc. But when Beast machines are ordered I build them :) I love it.

ah thanks man! i need to up the psu aswell but i wanna see what my rig does with the new card before i get a new psu. If it causes big problems or any problems then i will just put the 4890 back in. i have had a look at maybe a 700w or 850w. you think that would be enough? its running very well now even with the overclocking. at idle it runs 31-34 degrees and 45 degrees under crysis load and full load. Its very cool and quiet running machine. bonus is that it does a full restart in 35sec from hitting the restart button to back in windows with all apps and startup programs running. I love that hey.
