Star Trek Online - 1 million accounts

"Atari must be sitting pretty happy right now, as they have announced that Star Trek Online has gotten off to a great start. How great, you ask? How about one million registered accounts?

However, one thing we all know about MMOG's is that this isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. This wouldn't be the first time a game has gotten off to such a great start, only to bleed off significantly within the first few months. Hopefully history won't repeat itself here.

Seems trekkies are a greater market then we would think....
But no snub fighters? FAIL!

What are the subs going to be per month? I too am very keen on trying this one out... while i wait for KOTOR to be released.

thank goodness you don't dream about us :D

Haha who says I don't? Maybe I just don't remember those dreams. :p

I'm a big Star Trek fan. Even the Enterprise series that only lasted for four seasons. A big advantage to the Star Trek franchise is that the fans are mostly intelligent and mature which tends to reflect in the MMO.

Monthly Per Month Total
1-Month 14.99 USD 14.99 USD
3-Month 13.99 USD 41.97 USD
6-Month 12.99 USD 77.94 USD

Plus there's a shop to buy extra races and things. Plus you have to buy the game.

It's quite expensive. I would have been happy with having to pay subs and have the shop but not having to buy the buy the game. Oh well, I will still get it.

Is there a trial yet?

Unfortunately no trial yet. However I read somewhere that if someone buys the retail copy of the game then you get two 10 day evaluation keys to give to friends. Not sure how true this is though.

And then Lydon, I see you've been playing it. What do you think of it so far?

its an MMO, what do you expect?

There are plenty of MMO's that aren't repetitive. Unfortunately, those that are are the majority, and that's usually as a result of lazy developers.

We'll see whether or not STO is any different.

I will wait till the dust settles. Too often has the MMO world gotten the better of me when I buy-in too early into a game.
