Star Wars Battlefront - Official Thread

yeah, but looks like takealot is taking their time with my order.

Paid on the 18th with credit card, sat the whole of the 18th and 19th with a "Will ship on the 20th message". See status updated to now to "In Stock". Not that it matters really, have to work this weekend. Not a happy chappy me.

That sucks. Unfortunately I've got a fair few social obligations I have to attend to as well, but I'm gonna squeeze in as much game time as possible.

Also, I did my pre-order with BT-Games, so I'll just go and pick it up after work.

hey hey! Takealot came through and delivered! Now to avoid my weekend responsibilities.... :D

EDIT: Looks like the whole game came on disc. The package came with 4DVDs.

So who is playing this on PC?

I have a TS3 server and if we can get the party system working properly, we can game together.

I did a repair game, first it wanted to do a ~2Gb fix, stopped it for later. Then when I resumed, it did a ~50mb update. Thus far, for about 5 games, I had sound.

Great game, I managed to play a few games over the weekend, remembered why I liked the beta so much.

Love the fast and frenetic game play, reminds me a little of old skool FPS games back yay. Its not as technical as a Battlefield game, but then its not intended to be. Game looks and sounds amazing.
Gun play is fun and I like the dropzone game mode particularly for some reason. I've not unlocked many cards yet, or not near level 15 to unlock specialization, but that adds some extra to the game too.

Also, I have not had many issues regarding lag, perhaps I am too noob to realize.

Overall, I think if you like fast games, not a twitch game, just a nice fast game, then you might like this.

This is quite possibly my GOTY, most definitely. I've had a fair good whack at the game over the weekend, and every single mode I played was amazing. The game is absolutely gorgeous and sooooo muc fun. My word I haven't had this much fun with my clothes on in a very long time. It's fast, its immersive, and you'll not experience a better way of living out Star Wars than Battlefront, despite what all the contrarians of the internet want people to think...

My favourite mode Blast and Walker Assault. Still ranking up my skills and I've got a few cards going at the moment. Still early days and still a huge amount of hours I'll be pouring into this. Definitely better than Fallout 4 for me.

yeah, very much so. Another thing I didnt touch on, the offline training and vs bots games. Those are also really good and intense.
The one I played in the forest level against waves of enemies...damn, I generally dislike those waves after waves type of games, but this was fun.

Glad I decided to get the game after the countless going back and forth.

seems opinions are very mixed

Lol, what a whiny entitled asshole.

Whiny, sure. Asshole, perhaps. Entitled, I'm not getting that from this post.

I'm still undecided about this game. Review scores aren't helping with my decision at all - a lot of people seems to enjoy it immensely, others seem to hate it. Meh, I'll probably not be getting it.

the fact that EA is paying celebs to endorse their game is kinda fuckedup. doesn't say a whole lot about their confidence in their own game's success

So far it's only one guy, and he doesn't seem like the most trustworthy. I'd take it with a massive grain of salt.

It's a Star Wars game, it will print money for EA. I doubt that they're afraid of it being a failure.

yeah but remember Disney owns Star Wars now, so how much money are they really making off this game?

What are you on about, man? Yeah, EA have to pay a licensing fee, and considering they're the only publisher allowed by Disney to make console and PC games using the Star Wars IP, I'd say that they have a pretty sweet deal.

The answer is a lot.

According to data from Chart-Track, which does not include download sales, DICE's multiplayer-focused shooter sold 117 percent more units in its launch week than the previous best; Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

Chart-Track says Battlefront is the fastest-selling non-sequel PlayStation 4 title ever, which means it sold more at launch on PS4 than Activision's Destiny.

EA are smiling all the way to the bank. And that's all without the digital sales from the PS4, sales from other platforms and the unnecessary Season Pass bullocks.

Agreed - they're going to do okay off of it, whether they get a shout out or two from a handle full of minor celebs. Burnley's negative post will do very little to stop anyone who wants the game from getting it.

Besides, trying to take what is a pretty standard marketing process - celebrity endorsement - and trying to make it sound as if they're doing something terribly evil and untoward is just shitty attention seeking click-bait nonsense.

Also, destroying the disk is just daft. Why the hell didn't he just autograph the case and the disk, post "I'm not really enjoying this game so much. Who wants my copy?" and role in the warm admiration of his fans for being so cool and giving them stuff? He would still have got the message out that he didn't like the game, without coming across as a whiny asshole. "Ruined Star Wars"? Please. It may not be a classic game, but it sure as heck hasn't ruined Star Wars. In fact, I'd label it a "glorious homage to the spirit and epic scope of Star Wars".
