Star Wars: The Old Republic

The uncapped service does work fine for most general browsing and downloading. It is the gaming side that is suffering tremendously! At times it is fine and one can live with the spikes, but now the last 2 days I can't even play anymore. Just stand there running in one spot then die because I'm 5 to 10 seconds behind on what is happening on the screen.

Actually getting really tired of it now :( I'll try one of the proxy services like smoothping to see if that helps at all.
 
Try Battleping. I am having an issue of late where I get spikes but they are inconsistent. I have used Battleping in the past and it is easy and effective for overcoming shaping issues.

My problem seems to be one router in london and I am hoping using battleping will let me get past it. It is hard for me to test it though because of the inconsistency.

Hey guys, I spoke to my mom in the UK last night and it looks like she will be buying the game and subscription for me. So I am really excited to give it a go! I am not totally new to MMO's but from the Live videos I have seen it does seem a lot less paced than Aion but hey maybe it just me but I am really looking forward to giving it a go

hey Nimatek what line speed do you have?? I am running 1 mg uncapped so i hope i do not run into the same issues...

Ty people of SWTOR "LucasArts" you are awesome, the game I will never play I apparently am trying to sell :D

Anyway, while I know you guys arent really idiots and I doubt anyone really doing this (it ALWAYS amazes me that these kinds of emails DO work....) , just warning about this email though....
 
I'm quite surprised at how low the latency is on this game. On average i'm sitting on 210ms. I'm with WA. In all other MMO's LOTRO/WoW/Rift etc. I'd sit on 580-800ms on the same connection.

I get the occasional spike on mweb 4mbps uncapped which causes a dc but it is minimal. Was bad for a week but seems they fixed it now. So for now I am ok
 
Unrelated to SWTOR, but related to ISP's - MWEB SUCKS DONKEY BALLS!

Have had nothing but bad connection and service from them and even worse service since we notified them that we are changing ISP's at the end of the month to WA uncapped.

Constant DC's in game, connection so bad you can't browse properly just overall a horrifying experience.

Must be you or your exchange, because I have 240ms-260ms without any dc or issues what so ever.

You do know that WA is unusable for TOR at midnight till 1pm? This is apart from other issues...
 
Happy dance! I tried battleping and it did NOTHING for me, today I was spiking from a low of 700 to a high of 1.5k ms. With SMOOTHPING I was spking from 220ms to 500 ms. I am buying meself some smoothping time RIGHT NOW!!!

So many people? Greener pastures? I have seen only one guy trying to sell his account and heard nothing of greener pastures, has another MMO come out in the mean time?
 
What greener pastures? Its star wars man..That sold it for me right from the get go. Im not the biggest MMO addict in the world but im enjoying this a lot so far.

Yes, but until now I had zero interest in the game. Didn't even come into the threads. :P

Thanks anyway. I thought if it was cheap I might buy it and play until the free time is up, but over R500. :O
