Star Wars: The Old Republic

Also f2p? Seems quite epic. What about latency though?

Well, it's still in beta so unable to tell. It's a first person shooter mmo, free to play, and it is indeed epic. 3 factions, thousands of people in a massive scale battle over keeps. The battles are so large, it can last hours, days (according to beta players), even said to be weeks in launch. It's sci-fi as well, so you should like it. Have a look at http://www.planetside2.com and search some vids on youtube.

The best I can explain it is a Battlefield 3 mmo (the vehicles included), set in the future.

Thanks for the heads up. I remember the first game years ago. Never played it but I read about it.

Subbed to the newsletter.

What other scifi mmo out there is better? Eve doesn't count though, it's more a space sim.

Of course EVE counts! Shame on you!

Anyway, Dust514 (PS3 exclusive) is out sometime in the very near future, I believe.
First person shooter, shares a universe with EVE (same market, some limited interconnection to EVE pilots, etc).
It might be worth a look, I have heard good things so far...

Why only PS3 if it shares universe with Eve?

If Eve had an out of ship component I would consider it. That would be insane.

Wish I had the answer, mate.
No idea why they went PS3-exclusive on this one, but that's what they chose...

I would be sold on an FPS-EVE-slot-in-game for PC as well, but far from me to dictate what a company does with their products...

Been playing the Planetside 2 beta and it is pretty damn awesome. FPS is my main concern though. If you don't have a top of the range PC you will lag badly. I have a Phenom 2 x4, 8gb ram, HD5770 ati graphics card, and it lagged so much in a battle that it just plainly crashed every time I tried to log in. Not too impressed with that. But anyway

Just finished the Sith Warrior story line (just in time as my sub is running out like today) and it's awesome, as expected of a Bioware game. Pity about the rest of the game though, had such high hopes for it. I do believe the blame falls on EA, firstly for rushing them to release the game unfinished, and secondly, well, for being EA.

Still enjoying the game personally.

I don't know man. My first and still favourite mmorpg is DAoC, and the endgame pvp was epic. Best pvp I've seen in a mmorpg, so my standards are a bit too high I suppose. SWTOR lacks endgame badly imo, and I can't stand it. But that's just me. The story line though, was epic, as expected of Bioware. Loved every bit of it. I played a few diff classes, and Sith Warrior story was my favourite.

Not much of pvp fan so that might be it. I do like the end game raids. Done 4 of the classes, 2 imp and 2 rep so far. Probably end up doing all 8 before too long.

Just started playing a week ago and absolutely loving it! Still free, so playing just two characters: Level 8 Jedi Knight and Level 5 Imperial Agent. Feels like two completely different games! Playing one of the characters along with my son, which makes it that much more enjoyable. :-D

Is this game free to play or do i have to buy it? I'm asking because i saw it at some store offer and i don't know how is it really.

It is free to play the restrictions are a bit hectic though but luckily you dont feel it so much in the beginning so rather play it on ftp and decide from there If you want to subscribe or not I started playing it last week on the ftp model and enjoying immensly so far

Technically it is "free" to play and if all you want to do is kill some time playing a game then it is fine. But if you have any intention of getting into the game properly then you are basically forced to subscribe.

Anyone still playing this?

Playing on the EU, English, PVE server (forget the name now.) Rolling Jedi Sentinel and Jedi Shadow.

Yup, still playing, on Red Eclipse server. Add Stefan to your friends, he is in a guild with some South Africans, including me and is an officer.

I want to play it, but the installer was broken last time I tried and I can't find a working fix.
