Situation Report: Patch 1.1 and Beyond

So they're nerfing terran a bit, which I can understand. I mostly play Terran and this patch is fine with me, I hardly use siege tanks, bunkers, battlecruisers, and never bother with reapers.

What do you guys think? If I was playing Protoss I wouldn't be too happy about the warpgate nerf.
 
Really happy to hear about the Siege Tank nerf. Thors stand no chance against mass siege tanks and your ONLY option is flying if he's massed up about 20 of them...or more.

It'll make siege tanks much less useful in Terran v Terran as well, since previously one hit from a Siege Tank, with splash and all, would take out several Marines, with a poor 45 HP. In all I think that's a great change. Couldn't care too much for reapers and bunkers, they were never my sort of rush.

I agree with the extended build time on the reapers. They can be devastating early game when used by a skilled player. But yea, I do think Terran is a little imba, even though I play with them.
 
Siege Tank nerf was seriously needed.

Now zerglings, chargelots, hydras etc are going to be much more viable against a mech-style army. Glad to see this.

Would have liked to have seen a marauder nerf though, and also a couple of changes to Zerg. Not necessarily buffs or nerfs, just a bit more polishing.

Zealot and Reaper nerfs are great, won't affect midgame but will weaken the OP rushes people have been doing with both. Good changes overall, +1 Blizzard.
 
I've been an avid Protoss player, and have struggled with most of my games, not necessarily loosing but it just takes a high level of concentration. I recently switched to Terran and have been able to dominate alot of my games and find it much easier to play. Having said that the Seige tanks are way too strong I'm glad for the nerf, as well as the Reaper's. I hope to see alot more zerg high up on the ladder's after 1.1 since it's mostly dominated by Terran.
 
Protoss

We have two key changes in mind for the zealot: the build time is being increased from 33 to 38 seconds, and the warpgate cooldown is being increased from 23 to 28 seconds. Zealot rushes are currently too powerful at various skill levels, particularly those that rely on rapidly assaulting an enemy base from nearby "proxy" gateways. We feel the window players have to scout for and fend off this rush is too small. We also want to address the problem of protoss being able to dump minerals a bit too quickly with the combination of warpgates and Chrono Boost.
Dang there goes my free wins vs Protoss, if you see them not building anything in base build a barracks and bunker at their choke point.
Do the same at your base, a small army of zealots should break through eventually, but by that time he would have no money left while 3 terran units take out his entire blocked in economy. You could just then load 6scvs in your command center and then fly to his nexus where the defences is already up whilst his broke. That leads to GG's 90% of the time.

I'm still learning the basics of multiplayer, especially the intensity of 1v1, so I decided I'd experiment by creating more siege tanks in my last 4 games. I was never crazy about them before apart from simple early game base defence because they take so long to get in and out of siege mode.

I won three of the games in my first push, TvT, TvP, TvT. In the other game I didn't even get to build a factory as I was painfully Zealot rushed. Fastest game I've ever played.

So I think this patch is going to be good. One thing I'd like them to do is double the time it takes to salvage a bunker, that might make bunker rushes less tempting. I'm also not too sure about the Battlecruiser nerf...

I played the most retarded game ever against a Gold Protoss player who did nothing but build Photon Cannons around his base. He must have had about 40 of them. I had no idea how to deal with them efficiently and in hindsight thought that about 300 nukes might have worked but I was already swinging too hard towards air defence because he was pumping out Carriers. His entire army was probes, 7 Zealots, and all the rest of his 200/200 was Carriers. So I built loads of Vikings and Yamato Battlecruisers and his fully upgraded Carriers (3/3/3) just raped my entire army and my four expos. Absolutely no fun was had that day.
