A while back the consumer sales rating company the NPD Group stopped sending out US sales of PC games in its reports. However the monthly July sales reports, as reported by Industry Games, has a big coda in the numbers. Officially the number one best selling game was NCAA Football 11 which had 368,000 copies sold for the Xbox 360 and 298,800 copies for the PC version.

However the July 27 release of Blizzard's PC exclusive RTS game StarCraft II beat out the combined sales of NCAA Football 11 for the month as the NPD Group said the game sold 721,000 copies in the US. According to NPD analyst Anita Frazier, the sales of StarCraft II "helped the PC games category to realize a 103 percent increase in dollars over last July."

so like ja... pc gamings dead hey...

Be honest. It's ONE game. And it's f***ing Starcraft. Most gamers whom I know who tend to primarily game on console also bought the game.

and that's the reason i posted this.. so easy to rile up the console commies

:p

GREAT SUCCESS!

Guess it just goes to show how the PC gaming industry is full of RUBBISH which no wants. And then Blizzard who are always given a hard time for taking forever to bring out games, goes and brings out this. And everyone buys it. Because it's awesome.

Wish people like EA would learn a thing or 2 about from this instead of spamming games with the same title and a different date.

As much as I love my PC I am finding less and less to be excited about every year. Beyond the few amazing exclusives and MMO's I would barely touch it.

Not a dead platform, but one in need of some tender care because it is slipping into coma slowly but surely.
