Steam Controller and Steam Link

Hi all, anyone own the Steam Link and Steam Controller? I'm more looking at the controller, but might take the Link too.

I skipped on the current gen consoles (PS4 and XBone) and was going to buy the Nintendo Switch, but have now decided that my money will be worth much more if I stay with gaming on PC. Now I have the money that I put aside for the Switch, I want to put it to better use.

My questions: Where will be the best place to buy this? I've read somewhere on here or MYBB, someone mentioned Amazon (UK/US ?). Is that a viable option? Buy and ship straight here?
Also, will this be a good buy?
 
I bought 2 steam controllers, both with amazon.com, shipped here. Amazon works out your estimate import duties for you so no surprise at collection.

Is it worth it? Well depends on how much you willing to retrain your brain, as it's not a pick up and go controller. The gyro aiming with touch look takes some time to master, but once you do you will be almost as good as a k+m player. It took me some time (50+ hours) but now it's my go to controller above everything else, but my brother on the other end hates it. It depends on how much frustration you can endure until you don't suck anymore.

Also you can customize it to death, but then you can do that with any controller in steam, and not just a steam controller. I.o.w you can use your Xbox controller to play any game and simulate a keyboard and mouse, just like the steam controller.
 
I cant say anything about the steam controller, but after tons of reviews I found there to be too much mixed reviews. I opted to buy the ps4 controller as it now got some proper support via steam, gyro and touch pad works.
As for the Steam link, I bought in Oct 2016 on Amazon US for $34. I buy every month on Amazon, they really have good service and delivery is quite quick, bought on 10 Oct , delivered on the 20th October. It is quite worth it and would recommend it if you don't want to move you whole pc to the TV for some couch gaming. I'm currently playing at 1080p60 with no issues , I do have my pc connected to my router via TP Link Ethernet over power adaptors and my steam link connects over my 5Ghz AC wifi. I get no frame drops, surprisingly.
It has hdmi-cec so a press on the controller button turns on my tv and steam link, and load steam big picture( which is configurable)
You could also set up wake on lan , allowing the steam link to power on your pc. Get it!, unless you want 4k streaming :-)

You can probably find it cheaper if you dig around, but you can get both via the Raru US imports for ~R2,300
 
At this moment(exchange rate) for both steam link and controller its $99 on Amazon.
This is the total you will pay. You could wait for a sale, happens frequently, just be everyday on amazon website like me :-)

I also got in on Amazon, but a while ago when the exchange was better.

I use my link fairly infrequenty, but I use the controller everyday. I have an old laptop connected to the TV and use the controller as a keyboard/mouse in desktop mode to browse the net, watch youtube, etc.

I prefer the steam controller to my xbox one and use it often for controller supported games, but I still play strategy/simulation/fps on my computer. Platformers, racers, and other games more suited to controllers work great and there's barely any learning curve.
