Steam Download Size

Hey guys I just finished portal 2, and now I really want to play portal my question, does anyone know what download size I can expect from steam on this, note I already have half life 2 installed and portal 2, I see people saying that if the source engine is already installed the size is considerably less.

Also im wondering since i see many people asking about steam download sizes and since steam does not specify sizes if mygaming couldn't make a steam download size sticky?
 
If you already have the game just click install and then it will give you an estimate of the download size. I say estimate because it doesn't take into account if you already have other files installed like source or if there are any patches. Otherwise you can check on the Steam page for the minimum HDD space, should also give you an idea.
 
Checking the folder properties of my Portal 2 folder says it is 11.2Gb (1.2Gb of which are DLC). I think the Source engine's files are in a separate folder so you're probably looking at a 11.2Gb download if you have Source already installed. I think the Source Engine is an additional 4-5Gb.
 
So i bought portal,its interesting the size on install said 1.3G when the download started the total was 3.9G , 2.6G of which was done,so thats probably source engine stuff.

now the weird part,im running 3g so i can see exactly how much data was used and it was not 1.3G strangely it was roughly 750mb :wtf:. i noticed something similar when I download amnesia the size on steams downloading page and the amount of actual data used did not correspond, its interesting.
