Steam game lending system, Family Sharing announced

This will work well for me as I am starting to buy some games for my kids to play. I am happy with this.

It kind of blows that shared game can only be shared to one person and not both parties. So got to make sure it's a game you have played or are not planning to play in the future.

This will be a very cool feature if you want to let someone try out a game that you're trying to get them to buy.

As far as I understand if the owner of the shared game wants to play it will force the other user out within a short-amount of time just to allow him to save his progress.

Interested :D, wonder if I'll get to test though...already 40000+ people in the group.

Very interesting, I've got a bunch of games I can lend my bro, especially ones I've already played or will only get to in a while.

Nice feature, but the one thing I really want from Steam is the ability to gift a game that is linked to my library to somebody else. Let's keep it realistic and say it can only apply to games that has never been downloaded. This is the only way I see at the moment to get rid of my backlog.

Urghhhh, doesn't sound so attractive if playing one game kicks out your friend from another game :(

Currently you can just put the library into offline mode and play as long as you like on more than one PC. But games are so cheap nowdays, especially if you're willing to wait a few months for a 75% off sale. Family sharing is cool though for trying before buying, other than that I don't care about sharing someone else's library. Seriously, how many people here are stuck for something to play? We all own waaay more games than we have time to play them.

Sweet. Please buy me a key for FFIV, GW2 and ARMA3... I mean games are cheap nowadays :p

I really like the concept of sharing my library with friends and family however if valve is willing to do a bit more tweaking to allow both myself and my friends to play at the same time, i'll be a lot more interested.

I like this new implementation. Play before pay.

A little off-topic -- Anna Sweet looks a lot like a close friend of mine [without the specs] :)

Damn I suspected something like this but couldn't quite find the info. Yeah the system looks far less appealing now.

Yeah, I feel the same. I get that they need to restrict it somehow, but this just makes it more or less useless to me.

Why thank you, my life is now forever changed by knowing someone you know looks like Anna Sweet. I will now go tell all my friends that someone on the internet knows someone who looks like Anna Sweet and I am sure their lives will also be forever changed. :p
