Steam gaming smashes PlayStation and Xbox - PC wins

Considering the type of games steam has, mostly indie and really old school stuff, I'm not all that impressed.

Haha, I take it you think that AAA releases only happen on consoles?

I've seen Steam get AAA titles but unless you have a suped up PC, getting those games are pointless.

I stopped getting PC games as I couldn't afford to upgrade my PC all the time, plus you basically need uncapped internet, which I don't have.

I'm literally on a 5 year old machine that's still running a lot of AAA games at decent settings, now that's neither nor there but there are a lot of AAA games (I mean, a lot) and your statement about it mostly having indie and old school games sounds a bit misinformed to a degree, and maybe you're missing a key point in terms of indies and old school games. Steam is the most accommodating platform to indie devs (as far as I can tell) and obviously since it's a pc platform, yes, it's likely to have a shit ton of really old school games and indie titles, but it also has an enormous library of AAA games as well, so you're statement is misleading (whether you intended it to sound that way or not), in the sense it makes the implication that Steam is primarily for indies and really old school game, when it has a library of AAA titles that could contend with the libraries of previous gen and current gen consoles (granted, I'm talking quantity and distribution, not quality).

So you aren't impressed with Steam because you need an expensive PC to be able to run the AAA titles properly?

I'm not impressed cause there's nothing to be impressed with.

good grief man, then clearly u haven't looked... AT ALL!

at least 90% of my games purchases are through steam. The worst time of year for me and my wallet is xmas time, that's usually when I can pick up AAA titles for peanuts.

But seriously Kof, u sir have egg on ur face with a comment like that. No jokes...

HAHAHA!!!

This furthers my point.

With Steam you have much more games to choose from, lower costs, more features, a big screen mode if you want to use it as a console, an API if you want to make use of the data, thriving forums for each game, streaming, download settings, game sharing, curators, groups, user reviews, metacritic scores for games who have them, workshops, a marketplace, wishlists, chat, profile levels and places like SteamGifts and so forth.

There's a lot to be impressed with. :)

Also don't forget the massive Linux support.

don't know of any other platform that does this.

I don't enjoy arguing as it leads to negative vibes later on.

What I'll say is this, everyone has their preference and we should respect that choice.

Fair enough, mind you, I take no issue with whether or not you were impressed since that is subjective. My issue was with the framing of your reason as to why you weren't impressed, which implied that Steam is more for indies and old school games as opposed to AAA titles which isn't the black and white case since indies, old school games, and AAA titles are available in abundance on Steam.

Most likely I was mis-informed by those who have Steam and gave the impression that it's not "all that".
Look I know a few ppl like that and when I listen to the issues they encounter I have never experienced any of it. I have been actively using steam for probably the last 9years or so.

Hehe sorry, wasn't trying to argue. :) Was just trying to convert you to the Steam religion of awesomeness. I game on both PC and console and I wish consoles would do what Steam does.

I'm too depro that my PC is sh!t and I can't upgrade it, not cause of funds, but cause it's a custom built machine with specific parts and the motherboard is soldered to the casing.
