I want to move my Steam directory to another drive but I don't see an option on Steam to change the download directory

I doubt just cutting and pasting the entire folder across would work :p

Log out and exit Steam
Navigate to the folder where Steam is installed (by default: C:\Program Files\Steam\)
Delete all of the files and folders except the SteamApps folder and Steam.exe
Cut and paste your Steam folder to the new location, for example: D:\Games\Steam\
Launch Steam
Steam will briefly update and then you will be ready to play
All future game content will be downloaded to the new folder D:\Games\Steam\Steamapps\

I've cut and pasted my entire Steam folder to an external hard drive and used it from there. Steam wasn't the least bit concerned. You should be fine following Mappy's advice.

wow now that i didnt know ... excellent advice, thanx!

oh, so steam doesnt complain about registries and all that crap?

Not when I tried it. I moved it to my external, flew to JHB and played my games on my cousins PC with no problems. Mind you this was some years ago, so I'm not sure what if anything Valve changed in Steam that might have stopped that from working.

Also if you guys have a game that refuses to download you can try booting into Safe Mode with Networking. Thats always worked for me.
