Steam Library Organisation

Despite the rather corporate sounding title, im curious as to how you guys organise the titles in your steam library. I am trying out a "genre" based system where i manually assign the category, but surely there is a better way ? steam should have this sort of library maintenance built into its standard functionality

I simply list the games I play most under favourites. Which keeps them in alphabetic order which is good enough for me. I'm too lazy to create genres and it would take too long to find games imho.

I normally only list my installed games, in alphabetical order.

Ditto, well basically I use installed Alphabetic grid view most of the time but I do have catagories.

Not Installed, Busy, Done and Multiplayer. <- this is more to keep track of what games I still have to play or haven't finished yet.

That's a smart format, I think I'll adopt that. In all honesty though, I only found out that you could create sub categories due to this thread, so thanks Hiro - Rep your way! :)

Whoa...that's some epic sorting there.
I only have these categories:
- Games
- F2P
- Indie
- Not installed

All completed stuff also goes into the not installed.

I have three headings. "Games", "Completed" and "Don't like".

"Games" is everything I'm busy playing or still need to play listed alphabetically.

"Completed" is everything that's, well, completed. This category needs to expand. Sorted alphabetically.

"Don't like" is for those purchases that I wish never happened. Games I played a bit of and then realized it's either not for me or just plain crap. The shameful category of moneys wasted. I don't sort this category other than keeping Borderlands at the top, just to remind me of my own idiocy when it comes to impulse buys.

Some great ideas for organisation. Currently I'm just sorting it by alphabetical order, but seeing as my library is growing steadily, I might just poach one of your ideas

the main benefit i have noticed by implementing genre based categories, is that i have discovered i'm overstocked in the "Puzzle" department :-) Waaay too many puzzle type games. this helps in that i will now put future puzzle titles lower down on my shopping list

Mine is similar: Busy, To Play, Played, and Forever (for MMO's, multiplayer games, FTL, etc.)

Mine is rather simple at the moment - Favourites aka top 10 constantly played games. Then its new games - the still to play ones, old games - still to play, completed and a dont touch folder - aka games I wont play again

Ha ha! Couldnt help but laugh at the guys that have folders like, Poor Games, and Not liked, etc...

I just keep it as is and scroll through my games... Never thought to organize them into categories...
