Steam - Local Downloads

I once heard that you can download off Steam with local cap. Apparently through the IS server or something?

How do I do that? :confused:

I know about the forthcoming Wage Freezone Steam server, but I mean, I previously read that some people downloaded Steam content with Local-Only bandwidth. Apparently through routesentry or something.

But I guess I will just wait for WAGE to get going.

Ronald, you can use something called Steamwatch to force steam to use the local IS server until the wage one gets going.

I tried it and it really works great. Just modify the "allowed IP's" list and delete all the other IP addresses and only leave this one: 196.38.180.3

You then leave steamwatch running and then open steam. :)

Awesome. Thanks Djinn! I've tried using the IS server before but it never worked right. I didn't know one had to use something like Steamwatch.
 
Why wont this work for me.

i have installed the Steamwatch and went to the list of alowed ips but the 196.38.180.3 is not there.
 
Matty, you have to delete all the other IP's and add that IP in yourself so that it is the only one in the list.
