Steam Summer Sale 2014 - What You Gonna Buy!

I wasn't planning on getting anything but couldn't resist so I got State of Decay and Mafia II Joe's Adventure.

State of Decay looks really good, but I'm weary of that simulation mechanic that keeps playing when you switch off. I've heard of guys logging on only to find two characters dead and half their resources missing. I would be interested to know what you think once you've played a bit.

I was not aware of that mechanic. Hope my settlement doesn't go to shit while I'm at work today. :p

Its an amazing game and get very deep later on, theres also two really good DLC's for it.
Its been patched a lot from when it first came out as people had issues with the real time aspects. This is what the devs say:

"We have, however, designed it so you do not need to play every day. We started with the assumption that our players were adults, like us, and WE don't have time to play every day. Many of us do our personal gaming on a weekly basis, if we're lucky.
The difference between "gone for two days" and "gone for a week" is minor, and the difference between "gone for a week" and "gone for a year" is barely visible to the human eye.
No one can die when you're offline unless that survivor was suicidal and you ignored multiple warnings.
No one will go missing when you're offline unless you left an infestation so near your base that it scared people."

Also if it really bothers you that much heres a mod http://www.zombiestandardtime.com/ that will stop time and create a back up save incase you mess something up. Alsao check nexus mods for other files.

Good explanation prodigy!

And I went ahead and bought Bioshock Infinite. I think that and Skyrim will be my purchases for this Steam Summer Sale. So now I'm just waiting for Skyrim to go on a flash or daily sale.

Got

>Stage of decay + DLC
>Bioshock Inf + DLC
>Farcry 3 delux

I'm busy selling random cards on the market...got a TR2013 foil card...which seems to go for 10x more than the other cards. Whats up with that?

Also got sale cards:
1
9
9

Gonna sell them on the market too unless someone here needs them to complete a set or something...

Foil cards are more rare so worth more I guess.

Sorry man, those cards are worth more to me in my steam wallet than some silly virtual race.

thats exactly what i wanted to ask. what the heck is the point of throwing away 10 cards to craft a virtual badge that has little to no meaning? why would i not just rather sell my 10 cards ??

Apparently if you first make sure everything is a-okay before logging off, like no hoards descending on your position etc you will be fine, but I catch a game when I can, and I cant always afford to get things sorted out before I switch off. That mod looks interesting though and I hear you can set your clock back to cheat the system.
I just wonder if there is anyone who really loves that feature. Seems like a bit of a strange mechanic to me.
