There are two types of cards: Normal and foil. The foil is much rarer and also goes for more on the market. I have only had two or three foil cards drop in all the time I have been on steam.

I think you only get foils once you reach level 10 (or is that booster packs? The memory is not what it used to be).

Thanks for the info. Perhaps I should spend some time to level up my profile for future sales, even if it is just to be eligible for more cards to sell.

Yeah you also don't get cards from voting untill you are level 8.
However, once you hit level 8 you get all the cards you would've received from voting.
But not sure if that falls away once the sale ends. Think it does.

Ja I see the sale cards are only valid until Monday. Oh well.
