Steering Wheel

I have no exp with gaming hardware (joysticks) so I need some help on this :)

I'm looking to get myself a steering wheel + pedals to play the new F1 2010. I'd like to spend roughly R500 - R600 at most on this and was hoping you guys could suggest some brands and models.

according to http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=261897 , the following wheels are supported for PC

Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller
Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel
Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Wheel with Force Feedback
Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo / Turbo S / GT3 RS Wheel
Logitech Dual Action
Logitech MOMO Racing
Logitech MOMO Force
Logitech G25 Racing Wheel
Logitech G27 Racing Wheel
Logitech Rumble Pad 2
Logitech Cordless Rumble Pad 2
Logitech Driving Force GT
Thrustmaster RGT Force Feedback Clutch Edition
Thrustmaster Ferrari 430 Force Feedback Racing Wheel

Logitech. Always go Logitech. But that's just me. I love Logitech toys. Grimspoon might agree with me here.

If you had the money I would say G25 or G27 as I have a G25 and it rocks.

BUt fitting into the budget you posted, you won't go wrong with a Formula Force FX / Driving Force GT

I'd really like the G25 or G27 but that's a bit beyond what I'm willing to spend :) I'd rather get myself a new netbook for that price heh.

I'm thinking of going for the Logitech Driving Force GT Racing Wheel which seems to retail between R1400 - R1600. I'd be able to use it with my PS2 and PC which is a plus here.

Try for Formula Force FX if you want too, it won't break the bank and they are really good, they retail for roughly R700 or so, but that's if you can find them.

Best of luck :)

thanks, although I just went and ordered the Logitech Driving Force off Kalahari. It turns out I had quite a few eBucks on hand so I only have to pay in a small amount for it.

thanks again for the help.

I own a G27 and never been happier. Simply amazing in F1 2010, shift, Dir2 and I'm sure it will be a perfect fit for GT5. I'm going to enjoy my GT5 with the G27.

so got the wheel and it works awesome for F1, NFS U/G 2 and NFS Most Wanted (except that I have to use combined pedals here). I'm having a problem getting it feeling right in NFS Shift though. I understand the game is a lot more realistic than others, needing to gradually break into corners and accelerate through them, under/over steer, spin outs, etc - but it still doesn't feel right for me. I've tried looking for settings online and have come across numerous posts but they all give different advise.

What should my Logitech game profile degrees of rotation be and what are recommended in-game control tuning settings for the Driving Force GT?
