Strange panelvan siting

On our way to Pretoria on friday we came across this VW cabby(panelvan?). Have any of you seen a car like this? is this metro's new way of catching speeding motorists?

All the windows were tinted and it had 2 cameras on the roof. also we could see on the dash of the car there is something that looks like a small laptop fixed to the dash with a gps next to it. it did however seem that this car was "off duty" (if my suspicions are correct about it being Metro PD) as there was only one occupant in the vehicle that we could see and only the gps was on the laptop was not.

Sorry about the quality of the pics but my phone's camera is pretty crappy at night...

i think google would advertise... they wont use an unmarked car... this has to be something else

Google use pruises and they are white/silver they got 1 round camaras on a beam that the lower or raise. I think on myb there someone took a picture of the pruises driving around.

That pic does not seem like a google camara setup but that might be because of the high of the van.

found the pic

Not a google van, that is for sure. Saw 2 more of those guys today.

Anyway, could be a number of things. There are vans that are used by guys like Tracker and the likes, they need to be in contact with the base at all times and report things. Otherwise it could also be a media van and the thing on the roof was maybe not a camera but some form of a dish?
