A mother has accused the Gauteng education department of failing to help her son, after bullies forced him to drink his own urine, the Sowetan newspaper reported on Thursday.

The boy, 16, was forced to change schools from Hoerskool Transvalia in Vanderbijlpark due to constant bullying, the mother told the newspaper.

She said the group of bullies called her son a "******", stripped him naked, asked what a "******" was doing at a white school and forced...read more here: Student forced to drink his own urine

Yis thats just not on. Hope they catch those wankers.

That school bus pic completely threw me off...thought it was a school in the US or something.

Bullying seems to be a growing problem here and this year I think I remembered a kid hanged himself because of it.

Thats just ridiculous. Can't believe the stories of bullying and racism in our schools and universities that surface from time to time.

It happens. I remember the bigger kids trying to get the smaller ones to put condoms on.
But a lot of trouble makers come from very abusive homes.

Where do these chops think they are? Syria?

this reminds me
One of the most liberating experiences of my life was absolutely owning "my" bully in a friendly game of rugby in PE class.

All the ingredients were there: the rules of the game, teacher as the ref and bully with the ball.

Actually I might be going overboard now but I'd just like to take this moment to stand up and salute 12 year old bradbear.:D

edit:apologies for derailment. if any.

Jeesh, luckily I never had a real bully target me at school, but I did know which guys to stay away from etc. I used to have this 'friend' (well I thought he was a friend) in early high school...I only realised I pissed him off when he threw a cricket ball at the back of my head. Luckily he missed, and I could add him to my list of dudes to avoid. Another of life's lessons learned.

I think you are talking about Amanda Todd who drank bleach after she got abused on the internet when she showed her boobs. . .

When I read the title I thought of the Reitz 4 which happened when I was UFS!

And then society is "shocked" when "troubled teens" (usually "teens who spent a lot of time playing violent video games") bring weapons to school and stab/shoot their tormentors ... go figure.

They should spend more time on the internet they will be less shocked.

Sigh so sad to see these things happening more and more.

To many rights for kids. No more discipline. Can't even give your own kid a hiding.

I was bullied badly in school. It killed my confidence most of my life.

I was also bullied quite a bit in school, although often not physically because I was bigger or at least taller than most of the other kids (always the short arses who look for trouble -- I suppose they in turn were bullied because of their physical stature). But bullies can get to you in other ways; psychologically. And that leaves the longest lasting scars.

I think as a result I have become rather defensive.

Bullying is an issue that is often swept under the rug. You can try to get help from teachers and figures of authority and so on, but I think they aren't really trained in any way to deal with it, and would rather just turn a blind eye. It's not their problem. In school there were just certain people you didn't mix with/places you didn't go. One of them is the school bathroom. A lot of bullying happens there. I always made sure to go before going to school. :)
