Academic study says violent games reduce stress
by Dave Rudden July 12, 2010 11:12 AM PT

Texas A&M International University recently conducted a study in which volunteers were subjected to stress, with some subjects being allowed to play video games afterward. According to the results, the game-playing group reported less stress and depression afterward.
sauce

Take that, Jack Thompson.

I will must admit once I played a few rounds of ut3 I feel less stressed:)

Less stressed, mostly. Depending on the session. Lag, hackers, kak game in general can lead to being more irritable afterward.

A shag still best stress relief! Hahaha!

Well I do not have such pleasure:(

i have to say that after a nice fragging session i always feel better.
the more kills you get the better you feel and the more violent the better

An interesting and direct contradiction to all the other articles saying that gaming makes people mal (for lack of a better elaboration).

Wonder if this will make headlines like all the negative articles did

wonder if games with sexual violence would be classed under the same scope...

Only after the gaming session, interupting someone in the middle of a gaming session especially a ctrike player normally results in violent outbursts.

Also denying a ctrike player of his ctrike for indefinite times may also lead to violent outbursts.

Cstrike players eventually grow older and play real games! :p

nothing like a good session in Serious Sam: The Second Encounter to drop stress levels :D

Lets be honest guys, studies from both points of view on this subject are often biased and a huge crock of s**t. Everytime I see one of these studies it reminds me of that Southpark episode where they find KFC prevents cancer and marijuana causes it.
