Suicide squad

So I actually have a rather good feeling about what DC is trying to achieve with their cinematic universe vs what Marvel has achieved in their faithful comic book to film adapted cinematic universe. Also, the look of both Jared Leto and Margot Robbie's Joker and Harley Quinn might not be what everyone is hoping for, but their character portrayals? I'm stoked and sold.

Also, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller? Gosh darn it, that's some good casting right there.

The other thing is, lots of people will have seen all the past jokers in Batman movies and be huge Heath Ledger fans, and thus have a big problem with the new joker.

But something to keep in mind is it is based of comics, and there anything goes.

My mate is not a fan of the Joker having tattoos (disclaimer: he has tattoos, he's not against tattoos dont start), but I have high hopes. Have always had quite a lot of respect for Jared Leto as an actor (not bad band either hey?), and think he would be able to pull it off believably :)

I don't see that really being that big of a problem. Why? Well, there's always been outrage at comic book character castings not aligning with fan expectation and even there being the idea that no one can play X character better than Y. I was recently watching "The Death of Superman Live: What Happened?" and it came up that even dating back to the Tim Burton Batman movies, fan outrage about cast decisions was a thing (internet culture before the internet:rolleyes:). Michael Keaton went through it (one of the actors who shaped the Batman cinematic role), Heath Ledger went through it (one of the most prolific Joker interpretations today).

Ben Affleck and Jared Leto's Batman and Joker will go through it, but if the product is good, the fan reception will be just as good as it was in the previous great films. The one thing that even fuels my hope, is the fact that these are new cinematic interpretations of these characters (Jared Leto's Joker feels like a mixture of Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger's versions of Joker, which has me excited).

The other thing I like about the current DC lineup is their willingness to play around with the characters. Ask TheAvenged87, he'll tell you how much I love elseworld tales where we get to see different versions of these guys.

tl;dr I believe negative fan reception, percerption, and trepidation surrounding these movies is irrelevant until we get to see the finished product.

Yup. Elseworlds for the win.

I agree with this. People lost their minds when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker. They said that he would never be a good Joker. People say dumb things about other things that they haven't even seen yet.

I hate how people just see the name of an actor, or a picture etc etc etc and loose their minds.

Can we please wait till the movie to decide if A or B was a good choice in acting.

Well at least you knew what this was about, I would have carried on with the 'bed' jokes. :p

The biggest issue is that we as fans, for some reason, are enamored with the notion that we know how best the material should be interpreted:rolleyes:.

You are a legend :D

Every one is a critic.

I wish people would understand how the publishers and the "multi-verse" in most of the said graphic novella's work. I am as far away from comic's and graphic novella's as I can be with my interests in Manga, Manhwa, Light novels and Dōjinshi.

As far as I understand, various artists and writers can create the same character, in this case the joker, over and over in a different universe and have them be how ever they want them to be. Hence why every Batman (sans Dark Knight trilogy) the jokers appearance is different. Saint_Dee please you can correct me if I am wrong

I found this reddit post to be interesting. Here a video AngryJoe made regarding it.

If you haven't finished Batman Arkham Knight, do not read or watch the video unless you don't mind potential spoilers

Well i for one can think that this will be good, it's like they are trying to capture more of the comic's essence in this movie for character casting. Not like they Screwed up Bane for instance in the Dark Knight Rises.

And for one My Fav actor plays in it :D I think Will Smith as Deadshot is going to be epic to watch and look Ledger was in my opinion the best joker ever but i think Leto might dethrone Nicklaus as nr.2 when this movie hits :p

100%

In Marvel books, the movie universe is actually acknowledged as one of the parallel universes.

True but in this case it looks like critics of book covers
